Default seat/vw-audi engine damage anyone seen this before?

just changed the exhaust valves on a seat cupra 20v turbo as the belt had broken. striped the head off and fitted 8 new genuine seat ex valves, depressurised the lifters and reassembled it back together with new belt, tensioner and idler pulley etc.

started the car and it ran fine for 10 mins and then it made awful noises and stopped. checked the belt timing, no problem there. eventually i took the cams out and found that the top of one of the new exhaust valves had broken off allowing the valve to drop into the engine . i have never seen anything like this before, anyone ever had this happen?

seat have a big warranty claim on their hands!

Not the same I know but had a CRX V-Tec come in once that had dropped a valve, bounced around the cylinder and parts had gone back up the inlet track and into the cylinder next to it........ made a right fookin mess

i've seen that before .. it happens because the spring isnt seated propperly in the head.... quite a common fault when rebuilding theese.
