moon palace is very nice but too far away from cancun IMO.
seniour frogs is one pub you have to visit, it has sawdust all over the floor and a waterslide that goes through the pub and out the window 12ft into the lagoon
, when I was there in july 2000 the yank kids were infesting the place on a night made it a good honeymoon tho.
rainforest cafe is also worth a visit.

Cancun ROCKS 
Been to Mexico 3 times now, Cancun twice and Playa del Carmen once. The MOON PALACE is FANTASTIC!! We stayed there both times we went to Cancun. It is far away but they offer a free shuttle bus to the Hotel Zone (main "town" centre) and bring you back. Also you can always stop and dine at their sister hotels, Sun Palace, Beach Palace and Cancun Palace whilst you are there.
Lots of clubs for
, (meant to be very good but I wasn't into at the time so cant say) and great places to go and visit
eg: swim with dolphins

Saff_Cossie - Not me, my mum and brother have been. I declined and went to Malia (Crete) instead. 
Were staying at a place called Playa del Carmen 30mins drive from Cancun. Hotel is called iberostar tucan....Heres a pictur eof it

try and go all inc - might be to late now if you've booked the hotel 
we went in 01. fantastic place, bit like spain only better. beach is top drawer. drinks really expensive tho. try Ł7 - 8 for vodka and cokes in the decent bars.
and douse XX (spelling) is the most foul beer your'll ever taste
we did a few bar crawl type nights in places like fat tuesdays etc. all you can drink for $40 etc. the bar men still expect a tip after EVERY drink. not like in vegas where you tip the barman and you get the odd round free etc.

Top place and swimming with dolphins is a must but don't do it at ish-car-ett (spelt phonetically as I can't remember the real spelling)
Go to isle du mueres(again spelling dubious, means isleand of women ) for the dolphins its much better and you get longer with them

Moon palace is , well at least it was six years ago.
It was the first time my gf had ever got on a plane or been abroard before.
Depends what you want from a holiday really, now I would prefer a fly drive around Miami and the keys - much cheaper and seems so much longer as you get to see / do loads of differnt stuff.

I've been, stayed at Sierra Cancun, very close to most of the pubs. Fantastic place. We're actually thinking of going back this year.
Got to disagree with RobCarden tho. Dos XX is the future.
To buy drink outside Hotel is expensive tho, better to go on one of the organised pub crawls as there is always some sort of drink included.
Also if you can get a hold of some wristbands for some of the clubs it is free drink all night once you pay in. I gave our Rep $50 and we basically never paid for a drink in the clubs.
You will enjoy it tho.
