Im sooooooooooo fuckin pissed off at the mo,its untrue!!!!!!

The short and curley of it is,ive picked up a car last night,that im going to use for a run around..So took it to work today to get it mot`d (3days left) then if it passes the mot i wil buy it..

The car has no tax,but i contacted the DVLA as i put £5 a week in at the post office to collect tax stamps,which more or less means you have paid your tax..Girl (welsh i might add ) says "yeh as long as the cars booked in at the MOT station,and you carry the stamps,you are ok..

SORTED!!!!!!!!!

Drive to work,MOT place we use,let me down,so i had to come home with no mot.. (bare in mind the car is STILL mot`d)

Driving home,copper with 1 of these fandangle cameras clocks my reg,comes up as no tax,PULLS ME!!!!!!!!!! FUCKIN GREAT!!!!!!!

Says "we pulled you as it came up no tax etc etc" Ok,no worrys,showed him the stamps,"ohhh ok",mot,"yup thats fine","do you have your insurance docs on you"??? "Well no,its not my car...im fully comp on my cosworth,so im entitled to drive anything else 3rd party".."yeh but do you have them on you"? "no,who does"????

"Well im sorry Mr Mills,(thats me) were going to have to impound the car,as you can not provide a valid insurance certificate"!!!!

At this point,i was waiting for Jezzy Beadle to pop put with a big fooook off camera lens!!!

So now its A,not my car,and B,its been took off me,even though im 100% legal!!!!!!!

Go to the police station tonight,explain all to the guy on the desk,and he was a TOP GUY!!!!!!!

Said "its FUCKIN STUPID these new rules"!!!!!! "who carrys docs on them anyway,so cause his radio`s it through,and it comes up false,you loose your car!!THOUSANDS of people drive others cars,on there own insurance,but theres nowt they can do"!!!!

Cut it all short,ive been to the police station,played my face,and had all the forms signed etc etc to get the car back,with the POLICE footing the bill!!!!! £120 recovery,and £13 a day everyday after that its there!!!!

Basicly,another thing thats pissed me off,is that if there doin this to any 1 who cant produce on the spot,and havin there cars towed away,2hours later they will be down the station,proving there innocence,and gettin there cars back,with the police,sorry,THE TAX PAYER footin £120!!!!!!!! I could understand,if you didnt produce in 7days,THEN take it,but to take you out your car,and just leave you!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im WELL pissed off with this country,and how its all run!!!Sorry to rant on,but im just REALLY pissed off!!! AND WANT A FAG NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm shitting me pants about this aswell. Decided to get tax at last minute as per, looked at insurance doc and it shows my old reg, got private one now. Tried to tax it, no joy. Phoned Esure and got someone from India who promised it would be sent out 3-4 days. Still waiting and no tax!

Same crap happened to me.

Got stopped from Birmingham by one of these van cameras.

I was driving my Merkur, registered in America, so obviously the stupid van camera couldn't figure it out.

They pull me to the side of the road along with a few other blokes.

"Right..." the copper says to me "How come you don't have a tax disc?"

"This car is registered in America ... I'm visiting"

"So why doesnt it have a tax disc then??" I said to him "I'm visiting - it's the same as if I was driving a French-registered car and I was French....Look I'm an American with an American driver's license (gave him my New York driver's license)"

Two other coppers come by.

"So where's the insurance then?" one of them says.

"At home - rest assured I have insurance - they wouldn't let me pick it up from the dock at Liverpool without it"

"What year is this car?" The other copper says.

"C reg - 1986" I said.

"Well I don't think this old Sierra (my Merkur) is roadworthy" He then gets in my car and proceeds to GET THIS, shake my steering wheel up and down probably thinking that my rust-free Arizona car would break in bits"

The other blokes call in my US-reg plate/VIN to the DVLA. Get a response saying it's never been UK-registered.

"Fine. You're free to go"

As I look behind me, this young bloke with his g/f are being told to leave the car as it's being impounded for having no tax disc. I was too worried that the coppers will play up again to really notice much and sped off.

Those useless tw@ts!!

 

Worst thing is, is coppers have no feckin clue, hence that steering wheel shake bollocks...

I got them back in the end. From then on, I would always speed-up in the Gatsos areas and put my middle finger up when the camera flashes. One of the benefits of driving around on foreign reg!

but you were drivng a car that wasnt in your name.didnt have tax and no mot.and probably never came up on there computer that you had insurance.does sound pretty dodgy lol

ive seen the police with a pick up truck before just waiting, its daft as i never carry my docs around with me, is there nothing you can legally do to stop them from taking it? it seems v v harsh

 

the registered keeper on the V5c may not be the legal owner, you have already said it's your car, your name not being on the V5c doesn't matter so technically it was not insured so think your self lucky!!!

unless it says so on your insurance I dont think the car has to be insured by the party selling the car.

but by rights you can't ever drive a car home after you have bought it. Unless you don't complete the deal and leave a few quid owing on the car tha tyou will pay later.

 

pete I put money on your insurance policy saying something like insured to drive other cars not 'owned' by yourself....

nothing about it being in your name.

if youve paid for it and the car belongs to you then 'technically' you now own the car and have NO insurance in it.

 

...AND ALREADY INSURED ELSEWHERE!
