would i have to change the driveshafts to 1.3 shafts for me to put a 1.3 gearbox onto a 1.6 xr2 engine and will it fit and will the clutch fit??

 

aslong as the car isnt a facelift (86-)and the gearbox from a pre facelift (-86) itll all bolt up fine and dandy with youre original clutch and driveshafts.

if the box is from an early car and the xr2 is a late mdel you'll have to find an early linkage.

thinking about it, they didnt make any 1.3 after 86, they changed to 1.4! so if yours is D/E or newer, you'll need an early linkage!

 

cool thanks for that...the thing is the engine is in a mark 4 escort and i have no idea the age of the engine... so....lol hard question really

 

well look on the gearbox and there should be a long part number starting with 81 or 86, if its 81 then you'll need an early type linkage, if its 86 you should be alright (if your car is a later xr2?)

 

I have an xr2 g'box which works perfectly fine which you can have if you want, give us whatever you want for it! its from a d plate!
