YB into fwd conversion, or mid engine conversion
Are these popular still?
Reason being ive got all the flywheel / clutch / box still knocking about from out the cossie powered FWD mondeo i bought knocking about still and i dont know wether i should be flogging all the bits seperately or if im likely to get someone who wants the whole lot as one to drop into something mid mounted or fwd.
Flywheel is a cossie one by the looks of it, but machined down to take the ringgear to fit in the fwd box and all line up with the starter properly etc
Kind of seems a shame to not sell all as one, but i dont want to get stuck with it obviously as its taking up space.

I dont think "bolt up" is a good way to word it, as it must be a hell of a lot of cutting to get it into a Ka and then you would need custom driveshafts making i should think as i doubt they are the same.
But yes essentially its a FWD transmission for a YB, so its suitable to use anywere that a YB will physically fit.
Must admit i was quite tempted to do something mid engined with it, but ive already got a calibra turbo engine in the mid engined nova anyway so be a bit pointless doing a YB one too, especially as the vauxhall box is better anyway.

DannyB, i will get a picture of the flywheel so you can see the different ringgear.
Basically though its a slight smaller diameter, so instead of the teeth protruding past it like an normal YB flywheel they are instead a slightly smaller diameter than the main mass of the flywheel, which has been retained in order to still take the normal YB clutch.
Well, thats what it looks like it is anyway, its perfectly possible it is in fact a flywheel from another engine or something i guess, but it bolted straight up to the cossie crank and clutch, so from that im assuming it was a machined down cossie one.
I bought it as a complete car from someone who also bought it like that, so i dont have any details of exactly how it was done, but it all worked together as it was and moving the car turned the engine over etc.
Gearbox isnt with me at the moment, will get some pics but i assume its just a normal FWD mondeo box.
Sorry im being so vague, but i only bought the car for the engine so didnt really pay much attention to the fwd side of things and how it was done exactly.

thanks chip, let me know what you might want for the parts if you decide to part with them, i might be interested, just thinking of a few options at the moment.

PM me an offer if you are interested mate.
Im not after a lot for it all though, especially if you only want the flywheel and box, as im guessing a brand new standard clutch isnt likely to interest you as you dont do standard, LOL
Anyway here is a couple of pics of the flywheel showing how the clutch still fits on it with the smaller diameter ring gear.
Will get some details about the box as soon as i can, but robs got it tucked away somewhere at th moment as he picked it up for me and ive not got round to getting it back off him yet.
