Default Where to source a V5 VW engine?

Complex one but here goes. A mate of my mate had a crash which buggered the rad and a fair few other bits. He drove the car home with no water and the engine is now properly fucked. He unfortunately told his insurance company that he drove the car home and they won't pay for the damage to the engine as it's not directly caused by the accident.

He now needs to source a replacement V5 engine but doesn't know where to start looking.

Seeing as PF is a wealth of knowledge I thought I would ask here first

Or does anybody think he may get away with having the current motor stripped and rebuilt?

Car is a 52 plate Golf BTW

Why dont you try with VW breakers or even VW Tuning companies such as AwesomeGTI, JBS Autodesigns, VW Speed etc as they may have contacts etc etc

try these guys, VW Spares in Hammersmith in London.
I've been using them for years they are really good.

They specialise in breaking/ and servicing vw's have loads of spares.

If they don't have a V5 they might get one in soon, worth a try:

ask for steve, tel 0208 735 9996
