Default whats causing my light bulbs to explode ???

my bathroom has had it happen twice in a few months

first time was when i fitted it and the light was on and the fucker popped in me hand, i was holding the glass dome part and it cracked where the bayonet fitting is

the same fucking thing happened again, making me think theres actually a problem

thing is no trips made to the fuse box

are they just shite/faulty bulbs or do i need to go though my home contents policy just incase

Dunno... had the same thing in our house..... go through bulbs like no tomorra.

Had a socket moved earlier in the year and the bloke did a full test on the system... said it was fine.... just one of those things I guess.... either that or a slightly faulty set of bulbs?

Have you got a proper bathroom light fitting? I.e. one that is designed for condensation etc - or could be using too higher wattage bulb for the light fitting.

Sounds a bit like when you pint glass is filled too soon after coming out of the glasswasher and you end up covered in beer.

its possible you got a poor connection somewhere, causing a voltage drop. this will cause the bulb to draw more current, which will blow the filament like a fuse.

Is it smashing or going brittle - then falling off? My thoughts where its somehow getting damp and rapidly cooling?

only thing i can think of is cheap bulbs. if they're not bonded to the base properly, obviously they could break off, but if they leak, at all, oxygen will be able to enter the bulb, causing it to burn at a very rapid rate. maybe even explode. they are supposed to be filled with an inert gas which just wont burn, thats why it glows white hot without fusing.
