RED = Sierra 3 door (YBB), Sierra RS500 (YBD), Saph RWD (YBB) and early Saph 4 x 4 (YBJ).
GREEN = Late Saph 4 x 4 (YBJ revised emissions friendly engine spec to Euro 1504 trim).
BLUE = Escort 92/93/94 (YBT) "big turbo" model.

History:
YAA March 1983.........this was the original factory proto-type using the T88 16 valve head on a pinto block.
YBB October 1985........A development of the above engine with a turbo bolted on, and quite a few internal changes to suit....The first production YBB's were built at the new purpose built Wellingborough factory......18,990 units built
YBC January 86..........Group A rally engine.
YBD June 87......these were "recycled YBB stock" converted to RS500 spec.....525 units built.
YBE March 87......built for comercial sale for non Ford road car use.
YBF April 87......Race RS500 engine = 560 BHP !
YBG October 89....."green top" and YBJ......"red top". total of 12,515 units built.
YBT March 92......"blue top" big turbo Es Cos engine, total of 5,186 units built.
YBP June 94......"silver top" small turbo Es Cos.
