OK, here we go ont he life of Jay Carter, 2005.

I had high hopes for 2005. I was heartbroken in Sept 2004 shortly after moving to Hudds for uni when my girl at the time decided it wasn't worth it anymore

I was so upset I almost did something stupid and out of character.....

So I tried to go forward from there, start my course and get on with it. I got myself a bar job and was enjoying life with my friends in the Student house.

2005 arrived and think I may have been in visage with my Holly Valance lookalike mate Hannah. I think we also had a party at the house. It was great and me and my bud Timmy really organised it well.

Everyone was having a good time until this guy who was really weird started scaring off the guests and advised me he'd have to end my life if I didn't stop "arguing" (we were pissing about) with my mate Timmy.

Anyway, things were going pretty smoothly from there. Sure, I'd missed a few lectures etc but who doesn't? I think it was February or March, my French friend (who I was kind of in love with and had always had a soft spot for since the day I met her in Creation in Leeds, 2001) made her long awaited return to England. Leeds to be more specific. She was staying with a guy that one of her friends knew. From the conversations we'd been having leading up to her arrival, I thought something was finally one the cards. I had the kind of optimism not dissimilar to that of Mark on Peepshow when he thinks something is gonna go his way

I really thought something was finally on the cards. I really did. I was very excited about her arrival. She got here, and I went into Leeds to meet up with her. She looked great. Not quite as good asI remembered, but great nonetheless. The old spark was there and I thought I was on for a good one. I met the guy she was staying with. He seemed alright.

Well, how wrong was I? He got in a huff because he was jealous of me and her having a laugh. He disappeared. He then rang her up being really abusive when we left the pub. I thought "what a dick!" and we went to his house. I told her "get your stuff, you can stay with me. I'm not leaving you to stay with this prick"

Well we got there and he wouldn't come to the door or answer the phone. He was hiding. There was a light on but no sign of him through the window and we could hear his phone. So we went to the police station, said that he was witholding her stuff. They rang him and he answered. They spoke to him and he made up some bullshit about me threatening him and he'd only let her in if I wasn't there.

So I stayed out of the garden while she went to the door. He still wouldn't open up. The house was divided into flats and we eventually got let in by someone else into the lobby. Unfortunately we woke up his neighbour banging on his door. She was pissed off but when we explained she turned out to be sound, said he was a right dick and that if Lalia came back tomorrow she would help her get her stuff off him which I thought was spot on of her

So we went, with her quite upset etc. I let her stay at mine and things were alright, we had a laugh, we talked a lot. It was cool. I went to Uni while she did what she wanted during the day.

She was really confusing me though. She said she really liked me but she didn't wanna hurt me etc etc. I was getting frustrated but I still held out hope something could happen before she left.

Then, on the night before she had to go...... we went to a rock pub and we were having a right laugh. We'd met some guys from my course a couple of nights previous and she said she thought one of them was cool. I was a bit taken aback cause the guy was actually really weird. I said yeah he's a sound lad but he's odd.

Anyway, on this night at the pub she was pretty much ignoring me for this guy I got upset and told her that I thought she was out of order or something along those lines. I ended up walking out of the pub. After a while I thought "this is stupid" and went back. I looked through the window to see her getting off with him <-- real tears

I had a bust up with her and told her she was a piece of shit for what she'd done to me. I was in tears on my way home

Sad I know, but I was heartbroken..... yet again!

After that I saw her the next morning when she came to take her stuff. She was really sorry etc etc. I had no time for her and her crap so I told her to hurry up and fook off.

She did and I haven't seen her in person since.

After that I found I just couldn't face going back to Uni. I felt both humiliated and I felt angry. I honestly didn't know what I would do if I came face to face with the lad she'd gone with. From there it got harder and harder until I gave up on my dreams and dropped out

I made the firm decision to move back home and got a job in Leeds and commuted in late March. I also had my first driving test and failed

By May I had got my license but lost my job. All kinds of stupid shit kept happening like late trains, missed trains, car trouble etc. Now, in the past I would have gone off on one about that but further down the line I now understand that ultimately getting there on time was my responsibility and I can't blame the transport. I should have been there on an earlier train. So that I accept. But it still felt pretty bad at the time.

I'd also lost my bar job earlier as I kept staying home getting drunk on my own listening to depressing music cause of Lalia....

Anyway, less than a month into owning the car, with it's 11 months' remaining MOT I find out it needs a new power steering rack, and front shocks. Costs me £350

I met a hot Asian chick and started banging her

I go on an already paid for holiday with the lads to Tenerife. Have an alright time, nothing amazing. Get back and my best friend of 14 years falls out with me, saying I didn't hang around with him on holiday enough

I carry on with the car and I keep trying to find a new job. I move home early as I'd had enough and I had no money to live on. I find myself getting lonelier and unhappier, and cannot seem to find a job.

Summer came and went, I hung out a lot with some mates and went to the library every day looking for jobs online. Nothing eventful happened but I did sell the Escort and buy a Clio 1.8 16v. Awesome little car that I loved to bits.

2 months later the clutch went and had to be replaced at a cost of £200 for a recon with fitting. Car also started overheating badly shortly after as the fan had packed in. Got that sorted cheap. 2 weeks later the gearbox went. I was quoted £400/£500 just to get it out and recon it and put it back in.

The car had to go.

Also lost contact with my hot Asian chick by now.

I saw the buyer driver her off with tears in my eyes as I watched my beloved baby for the last time.

A pal and myself went down to Longbridge for an Escort cabby just after the Rover MG collapse. Had a drive by the plant. The car wasn't that fast, a 1.6 CVH. But it seemed to be in good condition and I thought I was being sensible buying it

The unemployment carried on until September Just couldn't get a job anywhere I tried

Money was tight as I was living off my poor mother (who shouldn't have had to deal with that hassle) and I was still getting bills and stress coming out of nowhere. I spent each month with my phone on for about a week til the bill was overdue and then I'd be cut off for the rest of the month til my mum would pay the bill

The usual bits of random bad luck happened to me all the time of course, and I found myself getting increasingly lonely at being single Something I have yet to deal with.

Late September I finally scored a new job. I was over the moon and am still plugging away, a reformed character, with only 2 sick days to my name and both genuine!

My hot Asian resurfaced and I thought things were looking up.

Unfortunately she only wanted/wants to be friends.

A highlight of November was the PF Blackpool meet. I had a great time and it made sure I would go on to attend all future events

This was despite the Cabby breaking down and having to be abandonned en route

A low light was finding out I was on emergency tax and got raped for my wage.

Had fun again in December with the PF crew but again the emergency tax issue has come back to haunt me as I found out I was getting paid a week early which would normally be good, but means I have no time left to sort it out.

Then today I drop myphone down the toilet so it no longers works, and I find out that my insurance will bounce and I'll be charged £35 and be in the shit for a simple error

I can't wait for 2005 to end!

Chip, I know it doesn't seem too bad. I do miss stuff out when i try to think ont he spot but I think my main shit has been psychological.

There's been so many times I've felt so worthless and no use to anybody. I have often felt like it wouldn't make a difference to anybody whether I was here or not and that I'm going nowhere in life.

I can honestly say that although I do feel a bit down now and then, I don't feel at all like that now.

The only thing still getting to me is lonliness and the fear that I might end up alone forever.

Sad I know, but unfortunately I can't control that.

When I say I'm cursed though, it's just little things that I'm talking about, like the insurance and the phone, and like how I had to buy 6 months tax and only get 5 cause I needed the car on the 30th of November
