Thinking of changing my 306 for a bit bigger car. Seen i can get half about passat TDI 115bhp which i think might be the best option. Also i know this is the other end of the scale but what are the Omega Auto TD and DTI like? Wouldnt normally touch a Vauxhall as had bad experiances with them in past but i dont mind the shape of the late style omega

Not sure yet dude, will look into see how much they are going for. Shame to sell it as its been the most reliable no fuss car i have ever owned. But just fancy somthing a bit bigger. And erm i fancy looking for an auto as go used to it over here in the US now
the car ideal must be no older than 98-99 too.

Would probably find the A4 a better drive (tighter suspension etc, apparently the Passat rolls alot in corners) but either A4 or Passat would be a solid choice...
People reccomending Mondy TDCi's - i'd have thought you might struggle to find one for around 4.5k?
TDDi maybe, but the later TDCi's seem to be going for about 7kish when I last looked...

a4 anyday
2.5tdi goes like bloody stink (only a fraction slower than my 2.8 petrol) but if you want better economy then go for the 1.9tdi, which still aint slow.
honestly, the monedo is a good car...its just that the a4 is better
go test drive one and ul see what i mean.

Rhys, the Passats awesome build quality, reliable etc. etc. but I personally find them very dull to drive. I know as a daily hack that's not particularly important, but I must admit that the diesel mondeo has a great deal more going for it....
The Omega Diesels are pretty good though! They have the old proven BMW 2.5 diesel in them too

Not really worried about fun to drive, just something thats comfy, reliable solid etc. Infact i would prefer an auto
Yes i have got used to lasy driving over here in the US and i like it
Aslong as i still got the cossie to abuse i would be happy with auto for everyday.
Mondeo TDCI seems to be struggling to get one in the budget on sensible miles, though when im home next week know a few people so will ask about, same goes for A4 but tbh i would prefer A4 or Passat. Anyone know what these are like in autos? or they a bit dodgy, being german i would imagine their fine?
