Default MR2 Turbo + greasy road + stationary object = ............

On the way back from football this evening, came off the roundabout, passed a petrol station, gently accelerated and round she went!

Nothing I could do - grabbed loads of lock, and almost caught it, but the road was soooo slippery that it was round on me before I could catch it.

Wasn't a high speed incident, but the lamp-post didn't seem to mind. Looks like I've got away with this really lightly bearing in mind what I hit, but we'll have to see in the morning.

The annoying thing is I haven't had an accident in a very long time, and I was just gently proceeding home, and not even messing around.

Ooooops

Well unless it falls to pieces like in Uncle Buck, I'm sure it's not gonna be any worse in the morning.

Tony,

To be honest, the only embarassing thing was that I didn't catch it.

I've spun a few times (as track day goers will testify ), and I've had plenty of RWD experience in all weathers but NEVER had a car go round on me THAT quickly, at such a low speed.

I can't have been doing more than 20 mph, as I'd just pulled away from stationary.

The clue to me was the petrol station.

There is always the risk of diesel close to any fuel station if the road is damp.

Something that the highway code dosn't tell you, but you soon find out if you often drive on slicks on a public road

Unlucky Rich!

At least it seems relatively light, and there should be plenty in the scrappy stuffed at the back but fine up front - they usually leave the road backwards!

Another engineer at my place has one with more paint and filler than B&Q

a mate was breaking a black mr2 on sunday, but its been through a hedge, several trees and ended up on its roof so i dont thing the front end would have survived.

think the tail lights and rear screen were ok tho

still, just get a load of tywraps and bodge it, it will look like you have been trying to drift it then

That's where it was Robin - I hit the lamp post outside the Esso garage.

Been back there early this morning, and you can't even walk on the road it's that slippery!
