Default which inlet manifold-rs500 or siamese 8 inj?

this should be a good one-
i have just aquired my old sapphire as it has been crashed so i bought it back for the engine to put into my rs500.

it is a big spec engine, but im wondering which set up is best.i have a p8 ecu which is mapped for the engine, although not for a t4 which it will now have, also have a wrc siamese 8 injector manifold with 8 greens, and a loom to run it.it all ran very well in my sapphire.over 400 bhp

would it be better to keep the rs500 inlet manifold, which i think i would prefer as the car is an rs500 and use a different ecu etc,or will the ecu be ok to run the rs500 set up with a different chip?my original plan was to use l8.or is the other manifold superior?

has anyone tried both set ups?
help!!!!!

i would keep the manifold you have and sell the siamese jobby, an ecu can be remapped to your new spec although i'm unsure if a p8 runs on the 500?
possibly just need to swap the wires on the TPS around like you do when changing from l6 to l8 , probably best to bump this in the morning when clever people are online

I would use the RS500 inlet manifold

No idea about the ECU

The WRC manifold is just the inner part of the inlet and a fuel rail. The outer cover is all as per either 2wd (limited to around 430-450bhp), the 4x4 one (limited to around 450-470bhp) or the EECIV one (limited to around 500bhp). This is all down to the elbow design, and the RS500 one is superior for flow.

Personally, I think your choice should only boil down to how much power you want to achieve, otherwise it is pointless changing it.

i want to get the best i can out of the spec i have now got-the engine is a 200 long studded, low comp, cometic gasket, knife edged crank, head ported to wrc spec,bd14 cams, double valve springs, bronze guides.

would i be better to use the rs500 manifold with 4 greys or 8 greens to achive say 420-450 bhp with the t4?which ecu would be best for the job-l8?

The standard set-up with the correctly matched engine on 4 x greys OR 8 x greens could achieve this, so if this is your power ceiling, you are wasting your money by wanting to fit an RS500 set-up, when you have something that will already do the job...

Any of the Cosworth ECUs (if correctly mapped) can achieve this power. Obviously the 8-injector boards to suit (if you haven't already got one) are EXTREMELY expensive (circa £750).

i already have the rs500 manifold as my car is an rs500.what im trying to work out is the best system to use on this engine im fitting.the engine came with a siamese 8 injector manifold with loom and p8.should i just use all that as i have it already if its or would 4 greys suffice on the rs500 manifold, especially if its going to cost 750 to be able to use the other 4 injectors.
im tempted to use the wrc manifold with this engine as i used to own the car and know it works well.just get it remapped to suit the t4.
on the other hand it seems a shame not to utilise the rs500 manifold as it would look right under the bonnet or should i just say fook that and go with the other stuff

You have a WRC siamese inlet manifold with loom and a P8, so that engine is already running 8 injectors surley???

I'd use the RS500 setup personally (with 8 std Yellows or dark blues for your 400bhp) and sell the WRC inlet, it's not like you have to spend any money on the RS500 inlet now as you already have it.

yes the engine im using out of my old sapph ran 8 injectors on a wrc manifold, but im putting the engine into my rs500 as its a good spec engine.i could use the p8,loom and wrc manifold that came with the engine, but need to know what is required to use the original set up on top of what i already have

So the P8 was on your old engine running 8 injectors? Or you still have the ECU you used that ran the 8 injectors?

Then all you have to do, is bolt on the RS500 plenum, and get which ever ECU you ran the 8 injectors on in the old car remapped to suit, easy!

I would do it the other way round to what Wes suggested, as the RS500 one is worth at least £1k, whereas the WRC one is worth £350ish second hand and will do exactly what you want it to do. Obviously if you were going higher power later, keep the RS500 one...

i think i might use the wrc item firstly with the loom and ecu and see how it goes.but keep the rs500 manifold just in case
