oh ginge, ginge ginge.
have u done what i did with ur cossie one? used a bit of rope to keep the pully still?
best way to do it is to shock it.
big hammer, solid bar and give it a few wacks.
any movement is good movement, so even if u can do it up a bit it will break the seal it has and then it should undo.
the wd40 will help if u can get it into the thread. but sounds like its pretty tight so it might not work to great tbh.
stick it in gear as well, it will give it some resistance to help u undo it.

is the sprocket for the cam belt and the pully all one unit?
after spending hours getting my bolt out of my crack i found out that the outer pully actually un bolts from the sprocket and when u take the tension off the belt u can take it off the sprocket. all with out removing the bastard bolt!
to do mine i used a propane portable blow tourch, bar and club hammer. in the end it went

Ginge - I had exactly the same with mine.
I tried "shocking" it to, but ended up breaking the bastard
In the end, I used a puller I had, and it eventually came off............... four hours later

Take your intercooler and radiator out and then you can use a air gun and then use pullars, thats the easiest way imo

Without being able to apply heat then you are back to wacking it with a hammer. You need to some how prevent the crank turning at the same time tho. What state of build is the engine in?

this engine has no cams in it and ive also fractured my missus wrist when the first 24 mil socket snapped and i hit her wrist with the hammer

Disclaimer !
Try this at your peril !
BUT IT WORKS FOR ME
Get a good quality ring spanner or solid bar (not a ratchet handle) on crank bolt - make sure it if on bolt 100%
Put a piece of wood between spanner/bar and chassis rail to stop the spanner turning or put spanner/bar against floor
Disconnect coil - Remove spark plugs
Get a trusted friend to "flick" ignition key on and off
The torque a starter motor produces is usually enough to do the job
Ensure you have spanner/bar trapped the right way to undo as well
Watch fingers eyes etc for flying spanners though

Get two scaffold tubes at least 4 feet long, use one to hold the engine stand still and slide the other right over the breaker bar, so it wont bend then slowly increase the pressure but do it gently otherwise you'll slip.

How about fitting 2 bolts in the flywheel where the clutch mounts lay a bar through so that it pitches on the ground and then fit a socket on the front bolt and hit it sharply with a copper hammer on your breaker bar.
Or as suggested jam a screwdriver in the starter ring, but thats more a 2 man job.

Testing the future
bolt needs shocking ginge.
get yourself a Ł20 12V electrical wheel nut gun and it'll have it open in no time.
i also saw a mental thing in a tool catalogue the other day that you put into a socket and you twat a bar thing with a hammer and it converts it into a rotational shock. have no idea where i saw it, or what it was called though

if the engines in bits then put a wooden hammer shaft on the crank to lock it in place, get your wretched skinney arse outta the way & get someone with a bit of beef on the bar & someone with a bit more beef holding the engine!!!
failing this, fire the block in a car, take it to work & get someone to airgun the bolt off

ginge, read carefully.
get some rope, start at the bottom of the pully, rap cloackwise round the pully 1 and 1/2 turns so that it goes all the way round and back over the begining of the rope. then it comes off the top of the pully to the right.
find a bracket or something solid on that side of the engine.
now when u turn the bolt anticlockwise the rope should tighten up on itself. this will stop the pully from moving and therefore the crank.
now u should be able to put ur socket on it and apply as much pressure as needed till it goes.
now i did this and snapped the rope twice, then i got another bit or rope and the blow tourch, and that time it went.
shocking it like that will help more then as well as the rope will increase the amount of force from the hammer get transfered to the bolt.
if u know what i mean.
