use G3, then let dry and then put water on the car to stop the paint burning, turn on the machine, have a play for 20 mins then phone the body shop for a blow over respray before the missus comes home

Buy a Porter cable (random orbit) or pay someone who knows what ther doing.

Heres a half n half shot of a golf I worked on with the PC :

And the wing after :

And a GT3 after the full works :

If you want to do it yourself you cant get much better info / help then you will find on autopia.org

Most the important bits have been said already, keep the mop or surface area damp, helps prevent paint burning.
Also dont apply too much force.

I use this machine at work, so much better than your conventional polisher.
Im getting my own one very soon

The Cyclo polisher’s exclusive dual orbital action heads feature polishing motions that simulate gentle hand-rubbed quality and virtually eliminate the potential for burning, gouging, swirl marks. The two unique counterbalanced 4” heads allow you to manage large areas and hard to reach contours with equal efficiency, offering exceptional stability and smooth operation.

Part time 'Detailer' as its now called

The cyclo above is between the PC and a rotary in its paint correction ability. It has the same movement but with two smaller pads. None are 'cheap' options though.

Just dont buy one of them things from Halfords

Mine is a 7336 but the 7424 is also popular, only the counterweight size is different.

7336 = 6" counter weight.
7434 = 5" counter weight.

I think mine cost me $119 from Lowes (Like B&Q) when I was in the states, saves on p&p if it comes home in your case.

Only problem with PC stuff is its all 110v so you will also need a transformer.

Have a look on here for a bit more info :

http://www.guidetodetailing.com/arti...p?articleId=47

Be very careful, it soon becomes an obsession and can get quite costly – Polisher, transformer, pad kit, cleaners, polish’s, wax’s etc. Most stuff is a LOT cheaper in the states though so buy in bulk or double up with a friend and share the postage cost.

Even paying the postage on equivalent stuff from the states still works about 60 – 75% of the UK cost

Hope this helps.
