Default Gearbox Question

I have lost 5th on a S plate Fiesta 1.25 Zetec-s

Took the box out to replace the slave cyl/thrust bearing and replaced the complete clutch at the same time. All the other gears work fine including Reverse, and feel like they are in the correct lever position.

Any ideas what I have done wrong?

The lever is in the wrong position on the linkage, probably only slightly wrong.

Yeah I thought the linkage was ok as i can get all the other gears well. And tbh it feels like 5th is selected, but there is no drive. We did not drop the box at all, never even tipped it up. Just changed the cyl/thrust brg and re-fitted.

Did you remove any plugs / bolts to drain oil?

There is a torx head screw on the bottom right as you look at the front of the car. This was removed then re-fitted but no springs flew out and nothing was moved but we only got a little oil out. Was this the mistake?

That was the mistake unfortunately.
Will the steel lid come off in situ on the Fiesta?

Yes theres enough clearance to take the end plate off, but only just.

In that case, take the lid off, then in order to get the operating claw back in its rightful place, read this thread:
