they all get the same channels mate, just you can pay for more if you buy one that has a slot in it for the card. mine doesnt, but i still get a fair few extra chanels for fuck all!
improves the image too being digital. no need for a different aerial, either plug it in between tv and aerial socket,or run the aerial to it then use a scart lead to tv

Payed £70 for our Sony one and been perfect. Fast at changing channels and the now and next and 7 day TV planner is really worth having, saves buying radio times or paper to see whats on TV. We got 2 scarts on it too so can tape video direct off the freeview box

Our Thomson set-top box is great, but our Panasonic one doesn't have a timer for video-recording anything, and the now/next is a lot more limited.
The Panasonic IDTV won't allow us to delete or rearrange the order of the channels. In the recent bad weather digital was pretty much useless, and we ended up watching terrestrial telly.

Can't remember the Thomson model number, but it's the one without a slot.
It has a full blown EPG and menu - look up the program for whatever number of days ahead and press the red button to program it to switch on and activate the VCR to record the programme. You can also programme it the old fashioned way by putting in the channel, date, time, duration etc yourself.
The Panasonic has none of that, just now and next.

Get one with a pvr hard disk I just bought a humax 9200t, and got rid of the video, and recording channels is easy and can record one channel and watch another or record 2 and watch a recording, also has a usb connection so can remove files from box and burn to dvd to keep or lend to others. can pause and rewind live tv like on skyplus as well.
