When they first came out I thought they were the absolute bollocks... I loved it to bits...
But now......
After having a faulty one that went back to SECS and took months of e-mailing etc to come back and the fact that all it does is fuel my 'Cossie Paranoia' I would just say ignorance is bliss.....
You find yourself looking at the Water Temp one and going.... Oooh 88 Degrees.. thats a bit hot.... Hmmmmm dont like the look of that...
Touch your brakes and its down to 86, off the brakes and its back to 88
But if you look at the dash board temp gauge it aint moved a millimeter but the SECS has been from 82 - 88 and back again 4 times.
Same sort of thing happens when you turn the headlights on and off, the readings change.
They are too sensitive and on old Cossies with original looms.
Thats my personal opinion anyway.

they are a good bit of kit but as Neilm says if they go wrong they can be a nightmare to sort out, as lets face it Simon isnt the most reliable person is he
On the plus side Mike R and Spenner got mine sorted in a very timely fashion so I would not hesitate to use these guys instead for any repairs, etc.
With regards to Cossie Paranoia - isnt every gauge like that

Neil,
Firstly, Simon is not involved with the building or repair of these, so any repair work has a five day turnaround.
Secondly, the fluctuation of the water temps has nothing to do with the sensitivity of the SECS monitor, but is actually what is happening real time. My Pectel monitor is the same and the water temps fluctuate with speed. Also, I have a digital oil pressure gauge, and the oil pressure (naturally) fluctuates with revs - I suppose you'll be saying next that this is because the gauge is too sensitive .
I agree that it can give paranoid people too much information, but it certainly isn't a case of ignorance is bliss, as ignorance can cause a catastrophic failure . You soon learn to realise wjat is normal fluctuations and that allows you to identify what is abnormal .
