115 amps vertical welding on a 4mm rod
bit cold mate, i would use that sort of juice on a 3.2 rod. all welders are slightly different and run different juice some hotter then others.are you a coded welder ?
worked at falmouth docks and you learn very fast down there. set the juice at 150 that covers vertcal up and hv fillet in 4mm and also 3.2 speedy/fastexx rods for downhand u can adjust the juice up or down 10-15 amps to suit your welding stlye ie i like it hot baby lol.
any way hows the welding going gaz?

No i'm not coded, but i've got tickets and done weldin since i was 14 years old.
i usually don't use ampage as the bible, as machines differ to each other, and the genny welders we have have not got ampage display, all done on throttle,
so i usually go by feel, start off a set amount, then adjust when needed
next time i'm out on site stick weldin, i'll take out the invertor set and see wot i run on 4mm vertical, but i know for sure its not 140 amps.
taken from the murex site just scrool down and look at the amperage range for 4mm 135-180 amps..... a inverter will struggle to burn a 4mm as well unless its running on 240 volt and even then the duty cycle will be 3 or 4 mins of welding. we have a couple of cebora sets and there pretty good for 3.2mm and weld all day on 240 volt... if u use 110 then u have to drop a rod size ie 2.5mm
we also found out that running a inverter off a jenny buggers the thing up even if running 240 volts.
ive got a few tickets and been welding since i was 6 .... old man taught me at round oak steel works.

No mate we don't even bother on 110, unless only doin 3mm tube handrails.
we have a inverter 110/240, which will be fine for a vertical weld on 4 mm rod.
also we don't bother runnin a genny to run a welder, we have genny welders.
