Default MK1 Escort - quick query

I seen the following on a local site and although the information / spec supplied isn't exactly comprehensive i was just wondering if the Passion Ford Elite could enlighten me as to whether the power claim from this can be so?

"shes a 4,3 all steel engine, cosworth sixteen value head with twin forty five draught carbs 512bhp 450lbs foot torque!

the owner has spent in and around 16k so far constructing the engine himself. "

don't know why people bother with turbos if you can get 512 brake from 45s.

This was my view - i know of one Escort Cossie with that kinda power over here but it also has an extra 4 injectors and just a tad of boost, ooh and has a history with Turbosystems

Just wondering what type of power that engine could realistically aim for - if all was set-up / running perfect ...

ne surprised if it's as much as 250 on 45s.. if they were 48s or 50s could be just under 300.

what's the 4,3 all about?

well I can quarantee that power figure is crap as I helped build that car, it's a 2.4 and is running just under 300bhp on weber 48's. It's a proper Gp4 spec thing with ff atlas, AP's all round etc.

Well it's good to know - i assumed it was just a genuine mistake or an exaggeration- car itself is mint enough not to need any "inaccurrate" claims.

Thats another couple of pics of it at a show in Scotland i do believe

That's a pretty awesome spec (although there is no such thing as a Grp 4 Mk 1).
