ok guys my first idea for a escort was i was going get a mk6 but now im in love with mk 4 s2 rst but i cant afford the insurance yet
what should i get as my base model?
what would a rst bodykit cost me or should i be able get one when its being broke
?
what would be the best way to go about doing this sort of thing?
anyone getting rid of a rst rep?![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
basically i want anything from a 1.2?-1.6 do it all up to rs trubo standard brakes suspension bodywork all ready intime for my insurance next year and drop the rst engine in it

basically i want best ideas to hold my habbit for now until i can have wat i want![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

is it really worth the hassle? why not wait til you can afford the insurance and then buy it. For your first car its alot easier just buying something crap and not having to spend money on it

IMO, wait until you can afford a Series 2. If you buy a 1.4 or 1.6 and make it a lookalike, you will have to tell the insurance company about everything you have done, that will cost you I'm afraid

DO NOT fail to disclose stuff to the insurance co. Lad my bro is mates with forgot to notify the insurance co about the GTE rims and lowered suspension on his Nova. He hit a Merc. Lads insurance refused to pay out do to the undisclosed modificaztions. His parents took out a hefty loan to pay off the Merc driver. His name is now mud with his family and he has to say he's had a policy declared void when he phones for quotes.
Anybody who tells you not to disclose info is a fucking twat.
Get a snotter for 12 months and then get something better. Until you have a couple of years NCB underyour belt RST insurance is going to painfully expensive

Well you can't claim if you get your car nicked or have a crash if you don't tell them about the mods, and if you had an accident and killed somebody you'd really be in the shit
But at the end of the day it's up to you mate. You should find the body kit easily enough from a breakers, interior etc is all easily available. If you decide to do this and do tell the insurance company it will cost you more to insure than a real S2.
If you do go this route then consider something like a ZVH or Zetec turbo to go in it. Why buy an engine that you could buy already in another car?

i once had an rs rep mate but that was 10 yrs ago fedz are so clued up now you cant fool em they,ll run your plate it,ll come up as 1.1 pop + they,ll see an rs turbo make you pull the bonnet to check for lump then take your insurance companies number and inform them of mods on your behalf thier hot like that now as said just wait what you spend in mods on the rep would prolly pay the insurance on an original in the long run, its ok haveing it looking like a turbo but youd soon get pissed off and seek an engine to make it go like it looks then your thousands in on a car thats in everybody elses eyes a rep and not worth as much as an original

I agree! I know you want a S2 now but just get a little fiesta or something cheap that way you have cheap insurance, won't bother you if you damage it plus if you do wanna do bits to it its cheap!
Then after a couple of years with your NCB and some experience you can get your S2 and have full benifit of actually having a real one!
