I have never - touch wood - had a problem with my gearbox, and it's still going strong. What is that tends to break on them? Is the final drive (ie 3.82:1) in the diff or box? Does this ever break?

Layshaft bearing is the most usual thing to break. That bearing however has been changed to a bigger one in teh IB5 gearbox. The old S2's BC gearbox still has the smaller one. The IB5 bearing can be transplanted to the BC gearbox with minimal machining required. Our local machinist does the conversion for around 45e.
