does the cooling water just run though a jacketed area of teh body of teh turbo , or does it acually come into contact with the shaft..?

that would maybe tie up with the slight miss on no 2 when it first starts then,

fook mei - its only just had a head rebuild inc skim and new cometic gasket 3K ago

the turbo oil seals are defo gone though, may have to live with teh head leaking a littl ewater, it doesnt over heat, and there is no oil/water mixing... yet

Just be careful it doesn`t erode the head away at the point it is leaking into the combustion chamber mate........Could be an expensive fix later if you leave it .......

could this be due to the skim in the first place. the machine shop did say thjey had to re seat the valve seats back in a bit due to it be being on its last legs (ie no more skimm sleft in it for a turbo spec)

here it is before/after teh skim

Mmmmmmmmm........They have had to skim a lot off it......Maybe the raise in compression has put the new gasket under extra strain...

If they have had to re-cut the seats thats a fairly big skim...

i think he siad that they had to re cut the seat not due to the smmount they took off but due to the fact that the valves would touch the piston tops otherwise, the head must have been skimmed umpteen times in the past i reckon.

Any local garage can do a Block/cylinder leakage test.. basically it involves a fluid which chngaes colour when CO is present in the coolant system...

bad news guys,

since doing the turbo, I was rather hoping for the seals to be buggered or have a crask in it - neither, but now its got new seals and bearings, it still smokes and is getting worse

damo, on your cometic what had failed, cos initially, mine was using just a smidge of water, now its a header tank every other day, and tehrer is quite a lot of blue smoke when its hot and it misses on no 2 every time u start it cos of water contamination. could it be just the gasket, or are we looking at at another head, what HG are u runnig now ?

the head before the skim (cleaned off)
are these water jacket ports already too elongated?

Ive been offline for few days...

I ONLY wanted a WRC HG on my new rebuild I'm afraid... for close up pics of my head, after meltdown, see my resto thread mate... BUT I wasnt loosing ANY water... I was simply pressurising the coolant system, mainly on boost...

Nowhere near as extreme as yours Im afraid
