Ok theres this bloke works at my local HI-Q tyre/exhaust place and hes got a civic vti 5door hatch, i just done a data check thing on the plate and it says its a 1.8? i thought these honda civic vti's were a 1.6 v-tech? maybe they did a 1.8 version aswell then?
Also if its a 1.8 version does that mean its more than 160bhp because the 1.6 v-tech is quoted at 160bhp?

My mates got a 98' 3Dr VTI-S and his is 1.6ltr 160bhp! I dont think they did a 1.8ltr VTI
Could it be an earlier Type-R engine?? I know the current ones are 2ltr but the older shape might have had 1.8ltr??

Yeah they did a 1.8 Vti but only 4door salloon [pretty rare cos they're ugly bastid things], 5door hatch and an estate, they are about 170 bhp
they did a VTI-s which is no more power just different seats and alloys.
The 3 door Vti was a 1.6 and about 157 bhp
though there are a few imports floating about with the 1.8 engine in

Paddy spot on Padster.
My bird works for Honda, and we've had several of these in the past. Lovely motors. 168bhp, vtec til >8k, LSD and the estate ones (aerodeck)were a real wolf in sheeps clothing. had them in pirates black, lovely colour that was like undiluted ribena - sometimes black, sometimes purpley.
i would recommend one to anyone
