Default Moan... Royal Mail

Not what you think tho...

Some of you may know i'm a 'posty' and every so often I read on blah blah blah forum someone slagging us off...

So I just want to have a rant about it!!

Ok first things first, Every company has it's faults, and every company makes mistakes, but I know from first hand experiance that quite often Parcels that we get the blame for that have gone missing havn't even been delivered by us, for example about a week ago I actually put a note thru a customers letter box informing them that they had a parcel that had been sat outside there front door for about 3 days, now if that had been you and you'd found it, who would you have automatically blamed? yup the Posty.

A few months ago Royal Mail got a real bad time from the press, because of the Yearly Profit, and yet nothing was said about the fact that even tho Royal Mail is now supposed to be a Private Company, we still have to give quite a large percentage to the Government, no other 'Private' company has to do that, we are regulated by Postcom, who set standards that we HAVE to adhear too, if we dont, then we as a company get fined, no other delivery company has this forced on them Royal mail are duty bound to deliver all mail (even if it's not ours) which means companies like TNT can basically cherry pic big clients quote lower postal rates and then use Royal Mail to deliver there mail cheaper than you or I pay... If Royal Mail Refused, under current regulations we would be fined.

From January the 6th, the monopoly Royal mail has in the UK will be removed, which means other companies can deliver your mail, only they are NOT regulated by Postcom, which basically means that if you live in the middle of nowhere, and your delivery area is deemed not profitable these other companies will not have to deliver your mail.. Royal mail however will, DHL have recently bought out something like 5 or 6 competitors to enable them to compete with royal mail, they plan to charge less for both 1st and 2nd class mail... great you may say... well yeah, but remember if you live somewhere they dont wanna deliver it may take a week for you to recive your mail... they are owned by the German Governmant, which is why the can subsidise the cost of the stamps, but they wont remain cheaper, they eventually will actually end up being more than royal mail, but by that time they plan to have smashed the monopoly we have, which means loss of revenue, which in turn means loss of staff and loss or service...

Are we seeing a picture here? If you think it's bad now, and you think it's gonna get better when it's privatised...

Think again

Sorry if i've bored you, but I just needed to get it of my chest, gis a break, you wanna try delivering 3 or 4 30kg bags of mail in the pissing rain or 70mph winds
