fitting a stack rev counter...probs
awright folks!
having a bit of a nightmare fitting my new rev counter.
everything seems to be wired correctly and it works ok for a while but it starts to jump around like its losing the signal or something??
the instructions say
red wire to a 12v supply. i have wired it to the live from my stereo.
black wire to battery negative or to the same ground as the ignition system. i have ran this to the battery negative.
blue to one point of the terminal switch and the other side to a conveint ground(black). I have this into a brown earth behind the clocks but also had it into a black connnection behind the clocks, both which still produce the same erratic needle.
orange to the appropriate tacho pick up point. i have this connected to the green wire coming from the coil and to the multi plug fitted to the back of the clocks.
where am i going wrong??
help please?
cheers

IMO, You need to connect it DIRECTLY to the coil negative.
If you use the green wire inside the car, this signal is filtered using a
filter block located next to the coil and may be reducing the available
signal voltage needed to drive the stack correctly.
** CHECK the owners manual that this input on the stack is able to be
connected this way first.

hi,
I have the same prob with my 2wd cossie...I bought a VDO rev counter, plug it as the instructions said....but some times it is good and some times, when i brake or use the indicators or something that use tension, the rev counter begins to become mad.....it revs and stays at high rev !
it is connected directly to the negative of the coil.......!!
also need help.........pleaaaaaaase

Its just a bailey breather man but all the fittings are -12 aeroquip so should look pretty awsome. no bothering with catch tanks or anythin. dont think one will due to the turbo and filter size. nightmare
yeah ... just you stick to the stella in future son. you comin out the nite mate?
