in your opinion which do you prefer?

i've had both and looking back i cant believe i used to drive a S2!!
to me now there just dog shit.. i think everyone i've come across has either had some history behind it (i.e Rung over ect..) or been in a mojor crash or rotten as fuck..and trust me ive tried looking, its very rare to find a good one.
also there road presents now is in my opinion is shit! every fucker and his mum trys racing ya as most S2's are piss poor condition and have been abused all there life! obviously i live in essex and see sooo many S2's around here are in terrible condition, the few exeptions very rarely..

S1's on the other had i think are far more special! everthing from the road presents to the looks, i like everything about them, i think the drive far better aswell..proberly because that aint prone to abuse as much and are looked after.. i can honestly say in all the time ive lived in essex ive only ever seen one S1 driving about and that was my mate jano's..

what do you lot think? feel free to abuse me!

Ive always liked both, but of course my fav is the S1. I remember when i first saw a MK3 escort when i was young, then they brought the mk4 out, i never liked the mk4 no where near as much as the MK3.

Really Don't take much to do a HPI check mate And, you can't of looked very hard, there are still some mint examples about, I mean original low milage examples which have never been modded, I've had two in the past, both purchased for less than they should be worth really......And there are also some really nice examples which have had full resto's and the like....I guess it depends what you would want to spend at the end of the day.

I've had S2 and the S1 I know have.
S1 is where my vote goes.

S1's are now 20 years old so what do you expect
Besides mine wasn't that bad at all before going in for restoration.
Even the bloke who is restoring it wondered why i was going the full hog

Both cars get

 

S1 - proper RS with motorsport heritage

S2 - marketing car built to sell RS cars built on the success of the S1 (much like the RS2000 MK5 was for the original RS2000)

Doesn't make the S2 or the RS2000 bad cars though.....

Pretty sure any real RS enthusiast would rather have a S1 than a S2

IMO....

I would still have another RS1600i over either though (despite them being slower....) - just something about them
