Default picture thread with horizontal scroll bars

worst idea ever

you cant scroll across until the bottom of the first post so if theres more than one pic it makes them unreadable

look at this thread and tell me it aint annoying...

I have to agree there Matt, it is abit of a pain, mostly when looking at pictures but sometimes you have to do it just to read the last work of a sentance.

I think if the site would auto-adjust to fit the size of your browser window this would help alot (like it does on turbosport + RSOC BB)

Think it was done to make Passion Ford run faster, because people kept posting fooooooking huge pics!

Does piss you off though!

I get the horizontal scroll bar on the main forum-index, never mind threads with big pics in......and that's running in 1024x768 (TFT monitor in work won't go any higher). Can't remember if it does the same at home, running 1600x1200, but I know it definitely does it in ALL threads (pics or not).

agree though, is a bit of an irritation - but then so are pics that are too big..

It was actually installed to fix the problem that is demonstrated above in my last post when folks add lots of smileys or text without spaces and us mods were getting about 100Pm's a day each complaining posts were blanke tc etc etc as the whole thing had been moved to the right about 6"..

Anyone remember those days? My PM's stopped, so it works....

EXACTLY the same thing used to happen with massive pics, you still got scroll bars, but you got them on the WHOLE topic at once, not just the offending post.....

Im sure you will all be moaning again when its removed, and you cant find the text ina post cos of some twats huge piccy but i wont be answering my PM's about it thats for sure..

The answer, as Rich says, is for the fool who put the huge pic on, to resize it

I've just noticed that when browsing the topics when you resize the browser the text / banner etc autofit into the browser window, but when you click into a thread the text / pics no longer autofit when you resize the browser window, I think this would solve alot of users frustrations with having to use scroll bars just to read a thread

OK, here is the thread view at full screen size:

Here is the same view but not at full screen size:

Notice how the text and banner have moved position so you can still read all the stuff that you can read in full screen view (horizontal no scroll bars!)

Now, here is a topic viewed at full screen size:

And here is the same thread viewed at a smaller screen size:

Notice how the text / pictures don't move themselves, but they stay in the same position as they did when viewed at full screen, (scroll bars appear!)

If the thread views resized themselves like the topic view it would be alot easier to view them
