Warning for CASTLE COMBE on Saturday !!
Just thought you might like to know....
White knuckle rides will be confined to the racing circuit say police
preparing for the RS Owners’ club day at Castle Combe next weekend.
When the Ford owners bring their sports models to the circuit on 10 July,
police from the Wiltshire and from the Avon and Somerset safety camera
partnerships will be ready for them.
‘We want the Owners to travel to and from the circuit safely and to enjoy
the day,’ said Sgt Nick Blencowe of the Wiltshire partnership’s safety
camera unit.
‘But locals have complained about these days in the past and say the
roads around Castle Combe are used as practice circuits before the
owners take their cars on the track.
‘People in the area, including horse riders, are entitled to feel safe and
free to pursue their activities.
‘So the partnerships are mounting a joint operation to ensure the thrills of
motor sport don’t spill into Wiltshire’s lanes.’
From the M4 and around Chippenham, Cherhill, Derry Hill, Yatton Keynell,
Burton and Marshfield, speed enforcement vans and Wiltshire’s new
enforcement motorbike will be at work.
In Yatton Keynell, Castle Combe, Burton and The Gib, interactive signs
will flash smiling faces at drivers within the speed limits and frowns at
those exceeding them.
At the Castle Combe circuit, traffic police will display a crash-damaged
car and be on hand to give advice.
‘We’re not out to victimise RS car drivers,’ said Sgt Blencowe. ‘But we are
targeting the rogue element.’

PassionFord Post Whore!!
They were out and about last year as well. We had been warned both at the circuit and then by a driver coming the other way.
They saw us come around the corner into a small village at less than 20mph, and then heard us flat out after the next (close) corner where they couldn't see us
Childish I know, but there you go...
On the not victimising us bit - they are rarely at any of the (just as busy/reckless) other days that coombe do

Gotta agree with Brom there, hear it every year at track days, people arriving/leaving like they are actually on the track...it doesn't cost that much to go on the track where you can drive like a twat all day if you want to!

Hmm anybody else think the coffers are running a bit dry then
How many accidents in these areas have the RS boys been involved in exactly as if there have been no accidents there is no justification for them to be there other than to make a few quid off our backs
