Default Differences between TomTom 300 & 500.. help!

I need to buy a TomTom this week and was gonna go for the TomTom 500. Having looked at the TomTom site to compare it to the 300 I cant see any differences except the colour of the box and the fact it has a bluetooth connection!

Does anyone know what else you get for an extra £100??

Cheers
Chris

Detail on my 300 for roads is spot on.

For restaurants and such you will need to get a 256mb card (Dont think the 128mb supplied will be big enough) and download the POI's.

are the bigger cards expensive? (ie - outway the cost of buying a 500 with more memory)?

Seriously - look at a garmin streetpilot c320 before you buy a tomtom.

We sell both at work, the garmin is SOOO much easier to use and has more detailed mapping. It also comes with a neater mounting kit.

The only advantage i can see for the tomtom is that it does postcodes - but the Garmin will find places that the tomtom will not.

It also seems that the go 500 has twice the processing speed of the 300.

proaloy, the maps are based on 2004 (which are the most upto date available on ANY satnav or road atlas!) so you'll get the odd error or two.

Jim, have you found any good deals on bigger memory cards and euro maps yet?

Tom Tom indeed use their own slight variation of the Tele Atlas, which is shared by pretty much al the others. Only the Road Angel Navigatior is (far) superior in software, the accuracy makes the Tom Tom look bad...Howver is it harder to use, slower and has a crapper display.
Difference between 300 & 500:
500 Has double the size processer....but the 300 is fast enough no one really notices
500 has BASIC europen maps....but can be upgraded to street level europeon mapping as can the 300
500 has a VERY bloody good bluetooth hands free kit...thats about it
Oh and if it was my money i would buy a Tom Tom over anything i sell anyday. They also appear to be the most reliable units and the postcode search is the best/easyest to use!
