Had one for a while, nice cars to drive, quicker than they feel but have to say not the most exciting to be behind the wheel of. Juicy too.

The Vanos failures in non Evo Ms is just scare mungering. Yes they fail, but no more so than a Cossie engine Mine has been on since new, never failed and as long as it's looked after and serviced it's fine apart from normal wear and tear

Bollox, the standard M3 has little if no problem as noted along with the 325/328. The Evo has the big rep for Vanos failure. Either your mate bought shitters or all Evos. Oil change is key, so dont buy high mile no history, snotters. Even then the job from BMW will cost £1600, go to an independant like my mate and you're looking at £900 and it dont look that hard to do if your mechanicaly minded and buy the tool for £35
