was doug escos on low boost.....500bhp is ok...but the torque wasnt that high....alltough...he had 500bhp before with a t4 and 8injectors(rs500 type)...it has now bigger turbo and swedish style inlet...

May I also add that people often quote dyno power where as on the RR it is rare to get any where near. I mapped Dougs car recently and had to cap the boost at lower rpm's to avoid surge an issue that is very common when using GT35's on the YB engine. As such Dougs boost is mapped to stay lower until around 6000rpm where it then runs maximum boost. On the road Doug's is mapped to run at a maximum of 32psi where as on the RR due to the lower loading of the engine was making around 24psi initially climbing to around 27psi. (i.e. around 5psi down on road setup) As such 507bhp is an excellent result for this boost level on Nobles RR.
A good comparison is that to make 490bhp Lee's T4 car was running over 30psi on the RR, and Nutters was 26psi to make 460bhp which shows how the GT35 is indeed a larger turbo than the T4.
I would also say to folk that if you really want to have your dyno power deflated then go to Nobles and have a power run. You will be VERY suprised at the difference.

Karl and this is NOT a dig.....MAD Rodneys doesnt surge at all and runs alot of boost I assume this is down to head work/cams???Be interesting to see if my old beast surges on your chip Karl, although i am most probably goin for the internally gaited GT35

Hi Phil,
No dig taken!!! It's a good point you have raised regards surge. I have done testing on this and found that no matter what head or cam spec you choose a GT35 will always surge on a 2.0 YB engine. The solution is to increase the engine capacity, ideally 2.2, but as near as possible as these engines don't surge with a GT35!!!

Karl what capacity engine do you run?

jhw, my engine is under 2.0, but I don't run a Gt35 and neither are any of my engine components traditional by any means so mine is'nt anything to go by.
However for the masses the general rule that must be obeyed is don't fit GT35's to 2.0 YB engines.

Hi Lee,
I'm just making a comparsion to folk that GT35's do make more power for the boost than a T4 especially when you consider that a GT35 can still make great power at 8000rpm.
With regards to head spec I'd say yours was just lightly ported with fairly long duration cams such as 14's or 16's because your peak power tails fairly early yet its quite late to make torque?

MAD Ade now has a GT35 & runs high boost from a 2 litre, with no surge
If the Head/cam combo is correct they dont surge.
I trust Dougs car will be at the Daddy thrash to do battle against Ade's car, perhaps its time to put it on the line, if it has anywhere near 600 gee gee's it will romp past 190 a much truer test than debating reasons why its a 100 brake short on the rollers.

and the gt30 turbo....is that a better option with a 2liter YB for 500bhp....does that surge.....and what ex.house should be chosen with this one...(.63, .82 or the 1.02)....

The cams on the other hand the inlet is supposed to be a 14 but weather it really is is anyones guess but the ex cam is standard
