VW!

look at this peice of shit, its lucky its even graced the kitchen floor! Best place for it is outside cos its a right shit to work on

Might not look too bad to you:

But i can tell you its a right bastard, who in their right mind makes an engine take the air in and spit the exhaust out on the same fecking side of the head! why can't they be conventional?! In one side, out the other, nice and simple....but noooooooooooo they want to tease me!

Oh, and to top it off, VW parts departments are absolute shite! They get you the wrong nuts, and not only are they wrong, but there's not enough there anyway!

I even had to rape my poor vauxhall lump for a few manifold studs!

Rant over

Why use VW parts department when you can use GSF or Euro Car Parts, they are normally cheaper.

As for the design of the head i had a moan about it aswell, lol

Just be thankful you've never had to work on any Fiats...!
My wife has a 2001 1.2 Punto bought from new and it is a bag of shite..!!
I had to do the headgasket on it a few weeks ago AND skim the head to get rid of pitting - it's only done 36,000 miles FFS

Bastard car..!

Err, whats the big deal about the inlet and exhaust being on the same side?

Used on loads of Ford engines, Renault 5 Turbo (not Gordini or Turbo2's tho, they used a conventional head on the same block) engines, and tons more actually.

Whoever designed the oil filter location on the SR20DE engined Primera needs all the skin filing off their knuckles.........unless they've had to do an oil change in which case the car will do it for them.

Apart from that it seems a good engine.

I'm pretty sure the 1 litre on J plates was OHC not OHV
