Guys, when is Pot 1 and 4 at TDC??

is it picture 1 or picture 2?


i think its pic 1.. so the pulley lug is lined up with the cast line on the block

pic two, the notch should be 16 deg BTDC so ahead of the lug?

can someone confirm please asap?

Rich.. is that the lug, luned up with the cast marker or the notch?

 

doh too late make sure you turn it over by hand a couple of times too - probably already know that but htought I'd add something half useful

That's the lug Dave, as you can see the notch a little further round.

You want it lined up with the back edge of the lug

Dave, dont forget that the accurate way of finding TDC it to remove no.1 spark plug and rest a 8 - 12 mm steel/alloy *rod on the piston crown, then rotate the crank/pulley assembly slowly until the rod is at the highest point.....

In fact the rod stays at this highest point for a few degrees (known as dwell) TDC is at the middde of the dwell point.

* or a long screwdriver can be used.
