OMFG how fast is the new Veyron! Just eats the Macca F1!!!
Just got the new Autocar... love this quote of what would happen in race and I think it shows how MUCH the previous unbeatable McLaren F1 gets toasted by the newcomer!!!
" Picture this, The McLaren and Bugatti are side by side in front of a Long stretch of dual carriageway... and suddenly the McLarens rear tyres light up and its gone. 3.2 secs later its hit 60, 6.3 secs later it reaches 100mph and after 10secs its passes 135mph. At which point the Bugatti Sets off...
After just 2.46 sec teh Veyron reaches 60... but the thing you will you will really struggle to get your head round is that despite setting off 10 secs later than the McLaren (when the F1 is already travelling at 135mph) the Bugatti reaches 200mph at exactly the same time as the F1. Think about that "
Fooooooook me thats PROPERLY fast man! IT CATCHES A MCLAREN F1 UP with a 10 sec headstart!!!! they also reckon its a pussycat to drive!
Good article. 1000bhp+ 252mph, very easy to drive, best interior ever and the most impressive supercar ever.
BUT not the best

they just said its a bit clinical.... The writer mention that its doesn't grab you emotionally like it should. Not like an F40, the F1 or a Murcielargo.
But thats HIS view. Personally I LOVE it but I would still chose a Carrera GT over a Veyron! or an F50. Been in both, and both amazing. Murcielargos are lovely but a bit slow

Was reading the review of the new Bugatti in the Sunday Times Driving supliment.
All they had was good things to say about it and compaired to the other "supercars" on the market it was very civilised to drive. Slow when you wanted it to be, but blisteringly quick otherwise with steering thats easy to use, but still accurate.
Another thing to thing about thou is that the Bugatti has all the creature comforts that the Macca doesn't have. So weights 2 tonnes, but still kills it performance wise!!

The Veyron is mega quick.
Heres some comparisons,
0-300kph
Mr Cowie in the 14's
Veyron 16.5
Mine did 23.9 at Brunters on my GT35 conversion & would just get blown away very easily.
Macca 1 around 25
All other Supercars are relatively slow.
Its is very very fast & sets new standards for Production Supercars.
I would do a straight swop & want no cash adjustment for mine. .

I'm sure it makes up alot by virtue of its DSG type gearbox (so the drive is never disengaged) and it makes almost a second alone on the 0-60 over the F1.
All said and done should a car that fast be that easy to drive??? I dont think so. It may be fast (very) but a real drivers car I doubt it is.
With a weight of over 2 tons I recon the Mac would get alot of ground back underbraking and around the twisties. Hopefully a mag like Evo will test a few of the supercars on a track and put the VW up against them
Give me the Big Mac or an F40 over that thing any day !

What I find so amazing is that its NOT a stripped out drag monster car running on silly fuel like Keith Cowies. This is a proper car that your mum could drive if needed. But that also does a genuine 250mph and yet it gets that close to keiths 0-300kph
Imagine what a stripped out drag spec Veyron could do
Thats why I'm not forking out my Ł839,825 just yet... I'll wait for the Veyron 'RS' to come out
They is a slight problem though... and you would be SOOOOOOO GUTTED if this ever happened!!! To do the full 252 in the Veyron you have to completely stop, apply the brakes and put in a sperate key. This puts the car in Topspeed mode. Does a full systems check, and among other things lowers the ride height and prevents all the spoliers from deploying at 135 like they normally do. This limits the Veyron to a mere 231mph
And so Imagine if you were on the Autobahn and some Chav in his burberry hat and McLaren F1 starts flashing you out of the way... you plant your foot and disappear for a while but then the you hit 231mph and the fooking Chav pulls away in this Shonky old Macca
Guess how far the Veyron can go for at full chat without running out of fuel as well?

Its 4wd and has OVER twice as much torque as the Macca... that helps
360 much more usable I agree Phil and I love them deeply, BUT thats not the point of the Veyron. Also to be fair the Bugatti sounds very civilised and easy to use so its not totally pointless. If you have soooo much money it doesn't matter and everyone who buys one will then I think they are cool and usable.

the bloody macca F1's over ten years old now and people are trying to compare it to todays technology!
the macca woz the car of the 90's, and can still hold its own against almost all the superars today! that tell's you alot.

Porkie - I wasnt refering to its 0-60 acceleration when talking about the box. More about how it pulled back 10 seconds on the Macca.
The DSG means you can keep the throttle floored and have have zero gear change time as two gears are essentially engaged at the same time.
Shot down in flames!
