What has the Veyron acheieved apart from a pointless top speed and a little more top end grunt?

The Mac F1 is 13 years old, and after all that time you would think the Veyron would have been safer, more usable, more spacious, better built and even lighter - but there is nothing to prove that this is the case.

Its the fastest acclerating & Fastest Topspeed from a production car also 1000bhp helps, dont think it needs to achieve anything else mate. If you want space & comfort buy a Lexus or a Roller. These cars will sell cos they are investments & most will never be used in anger. Wont see one at totb or a Daddy Thrash thats for sure, will spend there lives in a heated garage somewhere.

Agree with what ppl are saying, u cant really compare the F1 to others as its old compared 2 newer cars but still holds its own.

Chances are the Veyron is gonna be more spacious, and possibly better built. But cant see it being much lighter, and the F1 isnt really a stupid size compared 2 some supercars out there!!!

and whoever said about wanting the F1 GTR, good man

We got a GTR at work, as well as a lemans F1 and a standard road 1

Still a beautiful car, shame only so many were made due to politics

Yes it is, has to meet the same safty regulations as any other car being made atm (Not to mention the same emission laws too )

The Macca is desigend to be an uncompromising sports car (like the Enzo and that) so its carbon fiber all over the place a gear leaver, a few controls and thats it!

But look at the Bugattis interior its got everything you want! A far cry from the macca's harsh carbon fiber interior.

Well better built has yet to be proven I will admit. But lighter than the Macca? I dont think they ever designed this car to be lighter as they stuck all the mod cons in it.

All I'm going to say after seeing the interior is that it has 2 pedals not 3.

Drivers car? I think not. Infact some people say that about the Enzo and other paddle shift cars - it doesnt ask enough of you. The driver input is what makes you feel like YOU'RE making a difference not jsut sitting back and letting your wallet do the work as it were.

the f1 wasnt a compromise,, it was the car that was ment to do everything, thats why they came with luggage and a golf bag they have EVERYTHING you need in a car,, and since the options list has never cllosed you can still have any thing you want fitted (mp3 players, dvd player, change of leather/change of colour )

Anh, What the hell are you blithering on about? A 'super-car' is just a phrase used to define an expensive and comparatively rare car. It is commonly used to generalise cars that are both fast and expensive.

The Veyron is not about 'being' anything, it is what it is and that is no doubt exactly what it's designers meant it to be. The top speed is a bi-product of having 1000bhp and an aerodynamic shape. It clearly doesn't achieve this speed by the use of long gearing at the expense of acceleration from figures quoted earlier in the post, that's for sure!

You seem to think that just because it has a high top speed it won't handle well and it wont be driveable. From what I have read you would be quite wrong!

The only 'un-supercarish' feature of the Veyron is that it should be reliable After undergoing the same testing process as any other VW model has to (winter, desert, mileage etc etc)

The macca will still be more intoxicating though,N/A and 1100kg.What is the point of the Bugatti.

For me the F50 is the ultimate supercar, you dont need to go any faster than that,
Actually id just stick with the F430 and buy a nice villa aswell

In terms of handling - my cash is on the 1150kg Macca over the 2000kg VW. You might need to be a bit more skilled to get the best from the Macca but isnt that the fun of owning a car, building your skills to the point where you can extract that little extra and learning the car. These point and go cars that do everything so easily a learner driver could do it dont ask anything of you but give you a thrill. I'd prefer the satisfaction of my own perfectly timed gear shift rather than some computer doing it. And I want to push my own limits without some nannying electronic safety net being there to catch the tiniest bit of a miscalculation.

Old school can sometimes be better.

Keith B, they are different cars aimed at different markets. McLaren SLR is the only kind of competitor to the Bugatti I can think of. Luxury supercar/super GT

McLaren is a usable car with good luggage space etc BUT its very much a proper drivers car (no ABS, no PAS etc etc ) and the closet modern car to that is probably the Carrera GT.

I agree Porkie, but what I'm getting at is shouldnt a car that can achieve that kind of speed be difficult to drive? Do you really want to make it easy to get to over 200mph? Average or below average drivers should be effectively discouraged from wanting to drive that fast shouldnt they?

Personally I think the car is jsut a marketing special to revitalise VW's investment in buying the Bugatti name and to sell future generations of more lowly Bugatti's.

Quick Reply: OMFG how fast is the new Veyron! Just eats the Macca F1!!!
