Default What to look for? PUG 306 TD?

this is what im thinking of getting as me everyday motor. What do i look for! I know to look for rust lol...what i mean is...belts and stuff? Are they belt or chain etc etc etc ????

the biggest prob on 306's are the back axle( knocking nosies)
any nosies from the front could be top strut mounts or drop links, apart from that just check the usal. hope this helps

Yes, worth mentioning look out for signs of head gasket trouble, over heating (and making sure you get heat!) also heater matrix's are a problem on these apparently. I have had mine a couple months now and its been superb and trouble free, I did get the cam belt done when I bought it tho

Cambelts are fiddly (3hr book time I think) so it would be better if it's been done already. The drive belts are a v-belt and normally last quite well, but should have been done along with the cambelt if serviced properly.

Depending on the mileage, the gearboxes are well known for losing 5th at around 150k so make sure you get all the gears.

Look for any leakage on the fuel pump spindle. If it shows any signs of leakage then you'll need to knock a good Ł200+ off the asking price as they are expensive to replace.

As already mentioned check for possible headgasket problems, rear axle bushes and front suspension. They aren't the nicest jobs to do!
