I would say it all dpends on what u want out the car.
IMO i would go for a 2wd cos mthey are more fun and can take more power than a 4x4.

Spadge- Only reason i got a GTR is they NOT permanent 4wd. They RWD till it decides it needs some power to the front, and even then its VERY rear biast (hence the amount of people buying them after "normal" 4x4s like Scoobys then a week later going broadside into the nearest lamppost ).

And its a 2min job to fit a switch to make it 100% RWD 100% of the time, and thats a 2min job ive done

if it's 100% of the time, why does it need to be on a switch?

If you want to share the car with Chez then go for a 4x4. If it's for you ONLY (And I mean this!!!) then go 2wd.

Going back to a ERST will only bring back the very reasons you sold the last car, so I'd stay clear.

See you soon Tim.

i can will and shall kick you teeth out if you even contemplate another s2 laddo

keep to rwd just fit it with a straight jacket for chez to stop her meddling

if you go for a 4*4 mate you'll need a good 450 to get kicked up the ass like mine does and thats mega money

if you come out of this well then get a 3 door you know it makes sense rodders

WTF you on about?

The SWITCH makes it 100% of the time, ie the switch disables the electronic centre diff so it NEVER puts power to the front diff, no matter how little traction the rears have...
That will only be used for burnouts and acting like a drifty nutter, all other times it can stay automatic as the transmission losses are low in normal operation as its 100% RWD until it loses traction, like said before, and nobody cares bout tranny losses ones u got no traction, its the traction thats important, and it automaticly can go to 50-50 4WD and anywhere in between, depending on what it needs to grip.

Permanent 4wd is ghey (cause i dont like the big transmission losses), not nececerily the owners, lol

Own a 2wd and a 4wd saff, both running big power. the two of them are goooood fun but the 2wd was much cheeper to get the same grin factor. The 4x4 is untouchable on B roads though and looks good with the 4 wheels spinning up in tight corners. Just bought a focus but could not bring myself to sell either of the cossies so really cant help you out. Think you should stick with cossie power either way though and "dont" be tempted back to CVH.

Best of luck

hey guys,

you are always talking sh#t about 4wd. always saying...2wd is cheaper and bla bla bla. but when is a cossie going to be cheap....NEVER. it all depends on what you want to do with your car. and PLEASE don't say 4wd is gay. you al remember martin's car.....it's 4wd. there wasn't a car which was faster to 60, 100 and top speed. it goes round corners like nothing on earth. you can't beat that with a 2wd.

so guys keep the respect to each other because al the cossies have a different goal they are made for. but one thing they have in common.....and that's going fooking fast with a lot off FUN.

best regards,

4X4 Tim imo. I dont see the point to all this bull shit ' arse end out action' people talk about...load of crap.....imo thats just an excuse to own a less inferior car because at the end of the day they A: either cant afford to buy a 4X4 or B:can buy one but cant afford to mod one. IMO having 4 wheels coming out of corners and off roundabouts is fookin awesome....coming off a roundabout at 80 plus in third and it just fooking sticking there is more of a buzz than having to let off the throttle cos the arse end is coming out...WTF is that good for????

Whatever u get make sure its what YOU want not everyone else.

what happened to the s2???? where did I miss that bit

4x4 I reckon A to B point and squirt fast as you like.... only limitation is budget.
agree with the last couple of posts above this.

and 4x4s go sideways if you want sideways.

I would go for rwd if your the only one thats gonna drive it.

Or if the Mrs is gonna drive it go 4x4,would you realy want to be worrying about her everytime she went out?

What you realy want is a nice moonstone 3dr

4x4 and RWD are both completely different animals, so you gotta weigh up what you want. Normally I would tell you to go RWD all the time, but if you are taking mrs and Kids around in it, then a 4x4 would probably be the safer bet, as you dont have to be on the ball 101% of the time, and you will be less worried about your Mrs if she has to borrow the car at any point

If Martins car was converted to RWD with decent size rear tyre (10" rear wheels etc) then it would be faster round a track and faster top speed FACT.
0-60 & 100 I'll give ya because it's all over in the first 60ft.

All this bollox about 4wd being better handling makes me laugh!!

Why?? The have the same about of mechanical grip from the 4 tyres as a 4x4 car except they will arrive at the corner slower and understeer right round it

Ok, so they will drive out of the slower corners better but thats poor compensation in my eyes.

ROFLMFAO............ What a cock
You drive a Sierra mate, as do I, superior my ass

I've driven pretty much every 4x4 performance car of the last 20 year inc saphs, intergrales, early Evos, GTiRs & Scoobs etc
Not one off them compare to a well set up RWD car in the dry IMO.

(and btw less inferior means better )

So what your saying is for approx 60 days of the year in this country your car is quicker and the other 305 a 4x4 will spank you
