Default dilema

how much would you pay to a vet to fix your pet?

At what limit do get it put down if you have no insurance?

insurance is a mans best friend.. well after the dog.

Depends on how much the pet means to you.. your family blah blah blah..

Christ that's a tough one!

Depends on the pet and the amount of money involved I suppose. Also the age of the pet and quality of life after the operation.

There is another possible option.

If u really cant afford the vets bill contact the RSPCA who will hopefully take the animal in and have him/her repaired..so to speak and then put him/her up for adoption.

Now I dont condone this but u could then get a friend to adopt the animal and then give it back to you!!!!

although that would be well out of order lol

I'd sell my car, just like Davey said.

My beloved Doob (mental cocker) had 19k spent on him when he got cancer. We had insurance but we still had to pay 2K as it went over the max. Due to my folks being disabled (and poor) I stomached most of the bill, but upon speaking to the V kindly vet he did crop the bill, so we only had to pay 700 quid.

Part of the family innit. I'd flog the car if Dave or my folks needed.

I'd remortgage for my cat! wouldn't think twice...........

But if the Vet said it would be inhumaine for him to live, i'd go along with it

My dad had to take our last rottie to the vets to be put down, as he was walking out of the room, she was trying to follow him...................................

I have an English Springer .. So far, he's been fine ..

However . .a few weeks ago, my Mother and Fathers dog (A Tibetan Spaniel/Cavalier cross .. sparky little dog) tore a rear leg ligament jumping off the top of a lounge chair.

X-ray and consultancy -
Surgery a few days later to have an artificial ligament inserted -
Medicines -

approx £1000

How about seeing if you can give the puppy away to a good home who will pay for the operation, then you can get the cat the operation it needs.

You could put a poster/post up explaining the situation and hopefully some kind person will sympathise with your predicament and take the dog off your hands and get it's leg fixed.

Just a thought!

Cat depends how much suffering it will have in the process, it may get worse b4 it gets better in which case may be better to have it put down..i have a cat myself and god forbid if i hate to make the decision...it aint an easy one been there b4 with another animal...

puppy....it shouldnt cost all that much to fix it up

Id sell anything i could to fix any one of my animals...i was prepared to take a loan out for £10k to have my horse treated asked vets if i decided to have her put down would they think it was the right decision they said yes....problem solved....its always worth speakign to your vet BUT they wont tell you what to do, they will tell you if they agree with you decision, but they wont help you make it...
