Jeezus. . .
Went to join "http://forum.205gtidrivers.com" and have had an ordeal
I registered the other night by advice from other pf members, only o find i had to post (or so i thought) in the newbies section to register my account! So i did, without (stupidly
) reading the rules (as you usually do?).
So i come onto the forum today to see that it has still not been validated, and find a cheeky reply from a "supermod"
It goes like this:
My first post:
Im a fordy at heart, but recently been offered a 205 that i just cant resist white J plate 1.6 soon to be mi16/S16/gti6 or maybe just 1.9, whatever i can lay my hands on for cheep!
ops, hello everyone.
Supermod Graham reply:
lol, start as you mean to go on.
First post & already admin have had to edit your profile. If you had read Forum rules & guidleines, you would know that pictures are not allowed in signatures.
You need to read the ruels & guideliones, follow the requested points & fill the requested sections of your profile in before the admin will validate your account.
Also write a few words about yourself including your name, age, interests and your car(s) so that other members get to know you.
Thanks.
Graham.
My last reply:
GRAHAM I fully understand and accept the rules.
Maybe i should have stuck to the fords?
Well i own the car that was in my signature, for the people that didnt se it before Graham was forced to edit my signature, it was a series 1 rs turbo.... And now i own a peugeot 205 GTI 1.6.
My name is david, im 22, i have no children, i do not work and i like cars, my bank account number is 8546739239495. my sort could will be issued on pm if you wish to donate some money.
really. . why
What if i do not wish to let people know where im from? what if i enter a fake location? will i get a black mark against my name?
Sorry for not reading the rules, ive never been on such a forum so strict so i didnt stop and realise i was in boot camp. May i suggest disabeling the pictures in signatures function? i would save you some work!! Also, state that if you do not wish to reveal your location (which many people wont want to do for personal or security reasons) then you cannot join the forum!
Thanks for the info.

Forum Guidelines and Rules
User level hierarchy:
- Validation: initial level for new users that forces them to get familiar with the
main forum rules / guidelines. all functions are limited to reading and posting in
the New Users Startup forum, until they get approved
- Passengers: level for approved new users which enables them access to most of the
forums and functions. they are NOT ABLE to post new threads in For Sale and Wanted
forums until they've reached the Drivers user level
- Drivers: Passengers that made 30 posts are automatically promoted to Drivers
which gains them full access to For Sale and Wanted, Events and Meets and Off Topics
forums. also enables avatar uploading
- Pitcrew: long-standing established and/or members with high level of competence and
knowledge are upgraded to this group on recommendation basis (from other Pitcrew users).
they are able to upload pics and have a say in running issues of our website and forum
- Team Managers (Supermods): a group of users that have full moderation access to
forum, which includes topics/posts editing, approving, moving and deleting as well as
user information editing and warning. they are authorised to contact / warn you about
misbehaving and forum rules violating as well as answering your questions
- Team Directors (Admins): top level. have access to all the features Supermods lack
Location field:
- it is OBLIGATORY to enter your location into your profile. click HERE to enter it.
- if you're from the UK, enter your city / area / county (example: Devizes, Wiltshire),
but if you are not, enter your city / area and you country (example: Sochaux, France)
Signatures:
- no images in signatures, text only
- small font and not longer than a few lines
- no commercial or 3rd party links (only links to personal websites allowed)
- no commercial or for sale / wanted messages
Avatars:
- upload only (no remote linking), for members with "Drivers" and above user levels
- 100x100 pixels max image size with 10k max file size limit
- animation is prohibited even if it's under 10k
- must not be offensive to anyone (political, racistic etc)
Warn meter:
- there's a "warn meter" under your username. it's visible only for yourself and
supermods/admins. it shows how many warning's for misbehaviour and rules violation
have you got. "0%" means you're clean
- since the guidelines and rules displayed on here and in some subforums are very
clear and easy to understand, no violations will be tolerated. for anything seriously
wrong you do, you will be warned and contacted by a supermod or an admin, unless the
mistake you did was really unintentional
- the warn meter rating can and will be decreased in cases of improved behaviour
but if it adds up to 100%, you will be banned. if you make a completely wrong action,
either generally or towards individual forum users, you will be banned instantly
- don't get scared by all of this "warn" talk, we're pretty reasonable and flexible
in moderating the forum but there are certain limits and borders you shouldn't cross
General posting guidelines:
- the main rule of thumb is to get familiar and use the search function. most of
the technical questions you may want to ask have most probably been asked
and answered several times by now. all you need to do is click on the search link
(top right corner of the page) and be careful what you enter as search criteria.
there's also a quick sub-forum search function (botton left corner of the page).
we are also constantly cleaning up the forum and archiving the most useful and
best technical topics. these topics can be found in Technical Archives forum
- there's another knowledge base you may not be aware of - Articles on the website.
articles go in-depth explaining and/or guiding you through some of the most popular
and/or most complex questions and issues, so make sure you're fully aware of all the
subjects they cover. to read the articles, go to http://www.205gtidrivers.com
- when asking questions or making replies, make full use of vocabulary and grammar
which means that "txt spk" and "CAPS LOCK" (aka shouting) will not be tolerated.
also, only english language is allowed for use in public conversations
- when it comes to technical information and guideance, think twice before you hit
the "submit" button - make sure that information and knowledge you are about to
share is either first hand or verified fact. hear-say and deliberat missinformation
will not be tolerated. "guessing" (within reasonable limits) is allowed if it helps
finding an answer
- there's a reason why Passenger users are not able to post new topics in For Sale
and Wanted forums so don't start them anywhere else either (like General Chat forum).
also, don't post links to cars and parts on ebay/bidtowin auctions and similar sites
- try not to use bad words and don't patronise and/or humilliate other users
Posting pics:
- users with "Pitcrew" and above user levels are able to upload pics, while others
have to host them on their own hosting space or some of the free pic hosting sites
- if the width of an image is greater than about 600-700 pixels, put up just a link
without IMG tags
- the same goes for pics that are bigger than about 80-100k in filesize
- if you are showing off your car from several angles, use IMG tags only on first
couple of pics and link the others but if your showing a progress of some work or
something technical, you can use IMG tags on all the pics, providing the pics are
pretty much different
- this is to ensure there are no "warning 56k-ers" messages to scare off people
with 56k and/or smaller screen resolutions
For Sale and Wanted forums rules:
- these forums are moderated which means your topics or posts won't be visible
immediately after posting. moderators and admins will check your post to see if
it complies with all the rules first. posts are approved if everything is fine,
otherwise you will get a PM stating why your post hasn't been approved. if your
topic/post is completely against the main rules (see below), it will be deleted
and no explanation will be issued
- the main rules are these: location field has to be filled in, you have to state
the price you're after (just "offers" in not enough), no advertising on behalf of
others (that includes ebay/bidtowin auctions unless they're yours, links to other
forums and websites etc). this applies to new threads as well as replies. if you
want to let someone know about an item for sale that is not yours, you are allowed
to PM or email the information to the member
- for complete list of For Sale and Wanted forum rules click HERE.

I joined on there recently, it was a bit more hassle but its there forum, if you want to join you can at least take the time to read a bit of text. That way it filters out the people who are to stupid to read, the people we get on here posting about there 200bhp 1.8 sierra innit bruv! Also they seem to be realy helpfull, they are willing to reply to you whether your a newbie or not (a problem i had on here when i first joined) and i think they are trying to keep the bandwidth usage down which is fair enough, someone has to pay for it.
i registered on there years ago when i had my 205 (username 2wdcossie)
was a great forum imo
loads of technical stuff
helpful bunch
i dont remember having any hassle nor do i remember reading all that bumf!
