Default Whats the latest now on MG/Rover?

Hello all

Thsi may seem like a stupid thing to do, so im not gona do it till iv got some advice off you lot.

But im thinking of buying a Rover 220/420 SDi.

Im in need of a diesel and it has to be around the £1000 mark.

Iv been looking at these Rovers for abit and although they seem reasonable at that price i dont know what the crack with Rover is in general.

So 3 questions really.

1. Whats happening/happened to Rover now?

2. Is buying a Rover at this time gona be a good idea?

3. And what is the general opinion of the Rover SDi Turbo Diesel units in general?

Thanks.

no reason not to buy a rover even if the brand is dead, spare parts division was never going down the drain from what i understand

Well thats kinda good to hear.

Im just more worried about if something crops up that requires a dealer only part or tool then im stuffed. And you JUST KNOW this is gona happen as soon as the dealership dies!

Although the official dealers have gone there will be a lot of Rover specialists setting up, to cater for all the existing work.
Brand new rovers were going for half price if you bought a few so the current models will not have very good resale values.

My son ran a 420 Tdi (or something like that, last of the old shape) for 30000 miles with no engine problems at all, sold it at 140000 miles for £140 still running.

There are plenty of breakers for Rovers, no need to buy new bits.

so by the looks of it buying a Rover even now doesnt seem a bad idea (or atleast not the worst decision you could ever make).

Im looking at buying a diesel coz of the high miles im likely to do and im hoping to keep it for a little while aswell.

So fingers crossed, it'l all go well.

Thanks for your info and advice, much appreciated.
