Probs on my 4x4 holding back and misfiring any ideas ?
just latley the car has been holding back under hard acceleration and popping and banging etc, sometimes its fine and then it will suddenly play up, also notice when it does it the rev counter flys up to over 7k even though its not revving this high.
Question is it a loom problem (ie multiplugs being dodgy) as I suspect or could it be something else ?
I'm sure others have had similar issues and wondered what fault was found on theres before I start removing the multiplugs and joining the loom permanently.
Cheers
Jay

Firewall... 3 plugs, the one on teh right is most likely to cause this although you should check them ALL. If its the right hand plug then its picking up EMI from the HT leads in most cases as the shielding is garbage at best.
A good fix is to run a stout earth wire from Battery negative post and connect it to:
1) The plenum bolt the ecu earths too.
2) The ignition amplifier earth.
This will normally sort out this silly problem.
This is presuming the crank sensor is gapped correctly and the phasing is both gapped and set to specification. Badly serviced cars will miss no matter what you do, so sort the basics out first.
