Oh, same spec engine internals you mean, fair enough.

I think people will be quite surprised with how good some of these granny cossie motors end up now that turboing them is getting more popular!

They are good for 400bhp, but above that the blocks become a bit dodgy

some ppl are doing girdles now

On vauxhall v6 turbo conversion (just mentioning them cause i know a bit more about them) its cooling the cylinders at the back thats an issue.

What failure do you get on these ford blocks over 400bhp then mate?

When cosworth first made the 24v it had a standard 2.9 12v block, but with in year they had modded the block because were the main bearing caps met the block it would crack. The new block have webbing in them that helps a lote. To move up into the 600 to 800 bhp you need to rev the engine more and even causes to new blocks to crack.

6500 to 7000 max

Girdle would certainly help in those circumstance if well done then.

failing that even a mains strap might be better than nothing

I was thinking a mains strap would be a simpler way and cheaper I have a spare 2.9 block may do some experimenting

that looks really nice - from the top. don't wanna see what it must be like underneath all that. must be pipes and hoses all over the shop.

i thought from the title that you had just done mapping now, but you mean that the install is done and now just needs mapping to finish off?

post up the results if it gets on a chassis dyon please

how should we know, there's never been one over 400bhp

fitz's car was NOT 850bhp (and yes he told me PERSONALLY it was, not chineese whispers)

the orginal engine was run in dyo at 320 bhp at 7 psi, then it was cam'ed and 14psi of boost was added, so no it may have not made 400bhp as it was never dynoed ofterwards but I think it did, but I think it lunched it self at that spec though.

There are lots of 24v in the world Jim and not just in your tiny closed world you live in. 400bhp have been achived many times on a 24v

As I said the only proved bhp of the orginal engine was 320 bhp and I am sure the engine at the end was in 450 bhp mark before it met its maker.

SEC's was that the Tubo technics engine mate

Making the power on a dyno for a couple of minutes isnt hard, not falling apart within the first few K miles is.

Still a good achievement to make 600bhp+ though
