Why can't you do it ?

As its just a muliplier if you understand how it works then this is fairly straight forward to change from one size to the other.

But then i aint mapping......

If its GUI easy then its like UNIX and Windows LOL......If you understand it, its easy
You can do it, if you are a tuner and write a new chip, you cant do it just as a "normal punter" in the way you could with autronic.

So every time you want to make some minor little change you have all the hassle of going to see your tuner and paying him to do so.

With autronics all you need is a PC

What one? All the newest top cossies built (Reyland cars, A1 fiesta, and so on) run GT blowers.

Baileys Mk2 Escort and Scotties and Gareth Lloyds Esc Cossies run T4's, but they fast not cause of straight line speed, but other factors...

Kevs is fast as fook, but thats Nitrous for you

With Nos you can do anything. My GT40 Spins up as quick on NOS as a GT30 without it.
Ive used T4, GT35 & GT40. To still be advocating a T4 is almost a joke, its got more lag than a GT35 let alone a GT30. The world has moved on & will continue to do so. To be viewing my Grannies Tits when Jordans available is frankly perverse

Rod, for a track car with a close ratio box the lag (this is between gearchange) doesn't happen.

So it purely depends what you want from your car does it not ? Your still using a 25 year old engine - if things have moved on that far why have you not changed this ?

What other engine would you suggest he run???? I think using as much new technology as possible is the smart way to operate. I am taking a 25 year old engine and updating it with 2000 tech. I will use coatings, cryo, and all electronics I can afford to make it strong and make it last. If something is out there that is better and you don't use it because you can't afford it is one thing but to be blind to the advantages of new ideas in my eyes is just a waste of time and money. Just an opinion.

As much as I've disagreed with Elton so far this thread, the above is quite correct.

Lag on track is MINIMAL on a T4 with the right engine - I've known badly set-up T34s to be worse.

I agree but it would be better with a GT series is what im saying.
My block has moved on Steve at least as far as Mountune has pushed the Technology. It is however expensive & not needed at 500bhp. Im running Bhp that 4years ago whould have been unatainable & its still together . 700bhp off 850bhp on is now the yardstick from the 200 Block in road suitable trim & this will move on believe me.
I have 530bhp @ 1.2bar on pump fuel, imagine that a couple of years back. A few of us are trying to keep the Cossie ball rollin.

Change gear dan

I have only been caught out once LOL....

Rod you maybe moving forward but thats all you are doing, surely you have not got the top speed blinkers on today ? On a track 700-800bhp is not needed unless you have downforce and 800bhp brakes which sadly a saff does not.

Pon - you will constantly disagree with me now, so please stop aggreeing as it don't suit you

id recommend Holset HX40,rather cheap, durable, capable boosting up to 4 bar effienctly, although the lag is quite similar to T4

yep,the HX35 is used on the dodge cummins trucks, dunno sure what the factory application for the HX40 is,but anyway it will need a custom adapter to fit 2wd/4wd manifold. If you are going to use the Holset, make sure that you buy non-wastegated version of it,just for the ease of installation

rod - 1.2 bar boost = 530 hp - so basic maths - remove your turbo and at 100% efficiency your engine would be 240hp - thats a lot for a na 2.2 litre with such low compression etc but your engine wont be 100% so it would be more like 240+ hp thats a lot good stuff

how did you work that put?

as the bigger the turbo, the more bhp per boost.

i think a garret gt60r/gt70r turbo would be able to manage 500hp maybe lol.
