Default FOCUS RS MAPPING

I have rebuilt our focus rs engine over the last couple of weeks, the spec is.

Standard crank/pistons
Cosworth rods with ARP bolts
2x multi layer head gaskets (did not like doing this but if ian howell says it works then it works)
CNC heads heavily ported and flow tested cylinder head.
Piper inlet(270) cam with a 2 litre exhaust cam.
Equal lenth manifold.
AET gt28 turbo with larger exhaust housing.
Decat with full stainless.

This engine was already over 300 horses before the head work and the bigger turbo so with the right map and fueling should be near 400.

The car has been to superchips today, complete waste of time and money we need somebody who can give this car an individual map to suit the new engine, maybe a live map it at all poss.

Anybody know who can help

You need a true live map....I would speak to Stu at Motorsport developments.
(Ring him during office hours)

He has the RIGHT tools and skills to do this rather that others just plugging in
any chip and hoping for the best.

Thats exactly what they did, try this one-no good ? ok try this one.??
Not what we was expecting from a reputable company like superchips, i honestly thought they would have the equipment to properly set up this car.

Thanks for tip mate i will look into it.

The Turbo was big enough on my old car Tony, should have left it alone

Superchips are fine for the basics on the Focus (Having said that we have one that has over 370bhp with 310 at the wheels on a slightly modded bluefin !!)

our 370 bhp car will be visiting Blackpool's Finest MSD soon - so hopefully we'll get a few more ponies

Just want to clarify, My comment was NOT a put down of superchips before anyone says otherwise.

Rob@SCC Performance,

Hi rob, im a not tony i am his mechanic pete

Your right the turbo was well big enough this one is too big IMO.

All the engine really needed was the head work and the rods, but tony knows best eh

I just had the task of rebuilding the engine, i reckon the injectors need uprating as they will surely be at there limit at the same boost level now the engine can flow more air due to the head work.

Hi Pete.......

Just presumed you were Tony - Sorry

This is our 370 Bhp car - look at the power curve - doesnt drop off at the top- generally indicates the Turbos a tad too big......or the rev limits to low

and Tony's put on a bigger one

For your info the injectors are 440cc so if ya aiming for 400bhp you will be wanting to get bigger injectors for safety........

The old SCC Focus was the nuts with it's 325bhp. Impressed me loads

Seems a bit of a shame to interefere with it as it was working so well at Brunters

It had been changed before hand. Sounds like the new one is far to big for the car.
