For more people its approx 200 each in food/beer/hotel
VERY approx though, especially amount of petrol used as it depends so much on where in the UK you go from of course!

Good weather is just so much less essential than people make out.
Its still great fun doing the ring in the wet, the only real difference is your ten quid lap lasts longer and it takes less petrol, so its all good.
Nice to get at least one dry day for some "flying" laps of course, but dont let a bit of rain put you off, it didnt spoil it this time.

it was closed due to snow when we were there in easter! LOL - was quite essential! - 1st lap out in a scoob and we spun out of carousel - 2nd lap local rolled in front of us - a warmer track is grippier!
september has been 2 scortchers and its when you get to see all the amazing local machinary such as EDO porsches, diablos etc all on track with you but too busy and too many incidents - rain in september sounds best lol

Martin,
Please explain your logic, you are basing your poor weather on the ONE time you came in April (2001) and it snowed on the Sat night / closed track Sunday.
The subsequent four times we have gone that time of year following that trip, the weather has been 100% perfect with NO rain what-so-ever. In fact this trip has been the worse weather I have ever experienced at the Ring, as there was not one full dry day .

Thought it snowed the next year exact same time of year when pon was there?
I would rather go may or september etc but would not go april.
Are you still sore my shitter tanned your "500hp" touring car engine in the power stakes? lol

Would you guys say the convoying there and back in the cars was part of the fun or just once you got there.
Reason I ask is I cannot miss another one of these trips but i'll need to decide whether to fly into Germany from Spain or fly back to the UK and jump in with someone for the full trip.
Any ideas?

I did the journey shared between Mike's Escort, and the Reyland Escort and 3 door.
I've never had so much fun with my clothes on, especially when Martin did a full bore launch across five lanes of motorway from the hard shoulder, AND did a top speed run I have it on video
The journey back was one of the worst experiences of my life, as Neil and I had been HARDCORE drinking the night before, and I've never been so close to throwing up and not managing it in my life -the whole journey back was horrendous, apart from the porn.

Christ I remember that Journey PON!
PON whinging about feeling sick all the way home, Mike on the moral high ground about being a teetotaller
It's snowed there both times I've been in April...
Neil.

Yes, but the snow on that occasion cleared up pretty much instantly and did not affect the trip. Only once has poor weather in April closed the track . The snow on the occasion you are talking about was melted and the track completely dry by mid-morning .

Journey there - scotland to england in RST giving it wellie with friends - norfolk to dover in "supposed 500hp" cossie - some of france in a scoob then rest of journey in an EVO prepped RS200 journey was ace fun Some convoys are more fun than others
Another time we took an evo6 the whole way - one car and still a hoot

PON - It would be fun, but we'd have to plan a long way in advance with my current financial situation! Hardcore basting out all the way from a rastafarian handbag cabletie'd to the rollcage!
Neil.

Me too mate - sensible financial planning. Unfortunately we're not from the "fuck it, I'm loaded" school of all things car related.
I'd put some tunes in it before going though for sure - what trip to the ring is complete without "Blue Monday"

Pon, even for people on a modest income, it cant be that hard to come up with a grand by next april surely?
After all, 2 nights a week doing an evening shift in mcdonalds would cover that, and thats hardly something you need to be massively qualified to do.

Andy, yes a grand is extremely realistic for everything except covering the cost of a breakdown.
Im thinking of buying an E36 325 for the next trip (not easy for me to insure some of my cars abroard at the moment as my existing insurance wont cover it and finding insurnace on half a dozen heavily modified cars in one policy isnt easy)
If you like you are welcome to go for a part share in that, and share the driving/petrol etc as i may be doing that with at least one other person anyway.
At the end of the trip if its in one piece we sell it, if someone stuffs it up they pay the others back their share, something like that.
