Default TDC Problems :(

Hi All,

Last night I was driving my car and it juddered and then when I got to the traffic lights it started trying to cut out then reving high on its own then cut out and wouldnt start again. The AA came and had a quick look and they said it looked like something had been rubbing on the TDC sensor and thats what the prob was. Are the TDC sensors the same on all cosworths so I could borrow a friends to check it is def that before buying a new one?

Thanks,

Dan

I couldn't tell you mate - I just know the AA guy said it was called the TDC sensor that looked like it had gone so I was hoping it was the same on all cosworths before I buy one. They are Ł90 from ford

Thanks for the replies . Is the crank sensor the wire that connects to a white plug just near the radiator and the other end goes into a brown connector just near the injectors?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Damo,

Thanks for that, I forgot to mention in the post it was your pic . Can you see the crank position sensor in the pic I have posted or is it nowhere near that area?

Not that this pic matters, but look at the difference between the two in a couple of months lol, you can JUST about see the plug on the side of the inlet for the ACT sensor though

Right see this pic, see the BIG pulley at the bottom, thats the crank, see the white thing with the white wire going up behind the dizzy, thats the Crank Postion Sensor, when you fit the new one it has to be "gapped" the correct distance from the pulley mate

Thanks for the replies guys . I hate problems like this when it works fine one minute and wont start the next. I turned it on earlier after it breaking down last night and it started first turn of the key and drove 100% fine. The only thing I noticed was that when i wiggle the wires near the injectors it cuts out but there are loads of wires all masked up together so it could be any of them thats the problem. I take it it shouldnt cut out when you wiggle any wires no matter which ones they are?

get some contact grease on them conectors on the injectors and then open ya plug gaps a little more, that way ya will realise if its a weak spark as the larger it is the less likley it will start

Right you have a broken wire then, more than likely, get it to stu so he can diagnose it with the computer, ths will help find out what wire it is, DO NOT drive the car hard till this has been done
