Default 'Ring advice

When you have reached the end of a lap and you come under the last "gantry", there is a long straight before the exit to the pits. You can tell the "newbies", as they tend to then go flat out down here (any half fast car can hit 150+mph here).

My advice is to use the straight to cool the car as much as possible (cruising off the throttle at 90mph) and to then do a cool down lap of the surrounding roads (about a mile round trip). This prevents the heat shock of the temps ramping up if you just pull straight in and park up (warps discs and stresses the cooling system).

Just a bit of common sense, and it would be a bit like pulling straight into the pits after a hot lap on track and parking straight up - you wouldn't do that, so same principle applies.

Use your mirrors and indicate and pull over to the RIGHT so cars can always pass on left.

Watch out for bikes diving in on your inside.

Watch out for locals considerably faster than you in complete shit boxes (knowledge is EVERYTHING when 147 corners are involved) .

Yeah i agree with all of the above, especially caning it on the straight, how to put heat it at the one point you should be taking it out!

Also, driving gloves (as sad as people think that sounds ) are a very good idea, as the last thing you want is hands slipping off the wheel at a crucial point .

God yeah that guy was such a tosser, i was sat about 12" off his tail light beeping away by the time he finally moved over.

To avoid having someone telling stories about what a tosser you are too, i would suggest to everyone that they use their mirrors and make way for faster cars.

Some of the bikers and car drivers out there are just mobile chicanes, which is fine if thats how they want to go round, but use your mirrors and move over!

Brit bikers are typically the worst, most have the usual 'bikes are faster than cars' attitude so they never get out of your way.

couple of place you could manage that in your car i should think mate.

personally on the larger straights i dont accelerate flat out all the way along them, i actually back off a bit for the middle of them just in the interests of mechanical sympathy, not a good idea if you are chasing lap times, but fine for enjoying the corners which is all i go round for, ive no interest in timing myself really.

I like to have a vauge indiction john, but no point worrying about it to the exact second or anything like that, it varies so much with traffic anyway.

good advice mike

i also don't bother pushing the car on the flat out uphill section - there's no challenge there, so i don't bother, i give it a rest ready for the next twisty section

The straight mike is on about is at the end of the track, you know you are on it cause you see the cones up ahead in the distance where you enter the track in the first place.

Its really nice that you have such a caring employer who would offer you time off after an accident without making a fuss about it.
