Default internet connectivity help please!!!!!

having a issue with my connection. Basically ive just spent all last night and this morning taking stuff from my old pc and copying to my new one Lot better...

Re installed blueyonder...works fine but twice now i have left bitorrent D/Ling something while ive left the pc and gone out, when i come back its stopped d/ling and i also cant get on the net without rebooting.....

Any ideas? I have installed new firewall, virus program and microsofts anti spyware, not sure of this has anything to do with it?????

Please help i know nowt

Lee - I'd be looking at it being a firewall issue, or maybe the router dropping the connection. I don't use torrent sites, more trouble than they are worth imo. You say you have installed the firewall and a/v, are they all up to date? Perhaps you should run a spyware / virus scan and see what results you get

adam all scans been done! Its not a torrent site as such, just a site that has the od torrent available!

Just left it for a while and it stayed on...maybe its just been a cable prob today by coincidence

if it KEEPS doing it then worry, if its justa on off, dont worry :P

my NTL cable connection does similar, the box needs resetting... sometimes it happens once every hours, other times once every 3-4 months! just NTL being shit really... lol

it has never gone offline b4 tho ive had BB for about 8 mths now, and todays the 1st days its dunnit

youve had a 100% connection for 8 months with cable based internet

doe you ever turn your PC on?

mine's on 24x7 by the way

I'm with telewest nearly 4 years now with there broadband and not had one single problem from them

Lee try updating the driver for your network card. Sounds the same sort of problem I had a couple of years back with Bit Torrent. I ended up having to get a new card

When you return to the computer is the screen blank? as by default windows (if left for 15 mins) will start to power items down IE display then Hard drives if so your downloads will stop...? Just something to check

no mate everything was normal, bitorrent window was still there but downloading at 0kbs....so i thought thats strange, so clicked to go surf net and it just brought up the refresh page you get when ya not online. Restarted pc and got back online. Was ok while using it, left it and came back it had done it again.....


seems fine now tho
