Default Breakdown Cover.....;)

We are considering Breakdown cover.

We need it simply to get the car home in the event of a 'Breakdown'

Dont really need anything fancy like being towed to a Garage etc, just home would be fine!!

Who's best?

Basic AA (Roadside) won't neccessarily get you home, if a garage is nearer... Also look at Norwich Union Breakdown.. afaik they are backed by RAC (well an RAC van turned up to my friend.. ) Sensible prices, and seems to work ok.

i found greenflag the best and cheapest.normally cheaper to get it through your insurance company for some reason.never waited longer than 40 mins for them to turn up

We were with Britannia and they were very good. I dont know of any that will take you home though if you are more than a few miles away as that is open to a lot of abuse.

I used it a couple of times and each time it was the nearest garage. Broke down once and obstructed the road as the drive shaft popped out of the fiesta so couldnt move it, called the Police first then Brittania. The police sent their breakdown company which arrived as mine did and demanded to take the car themselves which resulted in a 100quid release fee. Last time I call them first

My cover here is good and is for me in any car.

AA for me

Been on the back of the flatbeds twice now And thats the tow vehicle not the rallycar/trailer Both times picked up from breakdown point, and taken straight back home. Both times used outside contractors which is good, as the AA is a "RELAY" service, which is exactly what it says.

If your at one end of the country and need to go to the other then they will "relay" you from point to point, usually with a little wait at changeover points. Makes the journey twice as long but who cares at least you get home.

AA for me think it was £80 fot me and alex joint membership and they take you any where you want Have used them a few times to get my car flay bedded this year Just tell them don't bother sending a mechanic or a small truck i need a flat bed and they have done so every time

Remember though on joining most memberships you can't use it for 24 or 48 hours
