Default Thismorning my Air Filter fell off!

scared the shit out of me, sounded like i'd properly f*cked something as i dragged it under the car for a good while down the road

before (pic is almost a year old)

after:

came round a roundabout onto a long straight in a manner which causes old grannys tut to themselves and say "bloody boyracers" and then the really loud metalic scraping noise from the car

sh*t myself feck knows how it just fell off, it was on so tight that i couldnt move the fooker 1mm

so, looks like i'm buying a new airfilter at nat day

you know what ive just realised, i shortened the bit of hose from throttle to maf (moving everytihng closer to engine, as it was knocking against the wing) it must have have been held in place by the wing a bit more than i realised, so now its just dropped on the floor 200 miles later

i fancy something that damps the induction roar a BIT mroe... mine sounds the same with and without the air filter on it

gonna whack a sock over it tonight until i can get a new one... better than having no airfilter, at least itll stop flies getting in

The should be a basic grill on the maf so you should be ok

A sock will kill the engine

oh yeah forgot about that grill thing

why would a sock kill the engine? my feet dont smell that much
i'm talking about streching it over the opening so youve got a kinda net effect, not stuffing one inside the hole

I had a mk1 escort years ago and it had a Alfa Romeo 20 twin cam it runing the standard side draft webbers. was waiting for a air box to be made, but I could not wait to drive it so I put some socks round them the fooker would not idle. also I almost sucked a sock into the carb the amount of air being sucked buy a 3.0 engine with good VE will suck that sock in.

Only Jim could dislodge the air filter and drag it down the road
